Adult Zoning Law Passed

FALLSBURG — May 12, 2000 -- The Town of Fallsburg Tuesday night appoved a local law that clearly defines where any entrepreneurs will be allowed to open a business that features any sort of nude entertainment.
The board members adopted Local Law #4 to amend Chapter 130 of the Town of Fallsburg Municipal Code to regulate adult-oriented businesses. The vote was a unanimous 5-0.
Such establishments will be restricted to two specific overlay zones within the town’s borders. One area is along Ulster Heights Road in the northeast corner of town and the other is at the end of Dairyland Road. Both zones border Ulster County’s Town of Wawarsing.
Part of the reason for the adoption of Local Law #4 was the Blue Moon II. Located at the former T’s Restaurant, Blue Moon II created a stir in the community when it opened eight months ago along Route 42 near South Fallsburg.
While the establishment, which features totally nude dancers, will not be affected by the law because it opened before the statute was created, the law does ensure that Blue Moon II will be the only such adult establishment along Route 42 in the Town of Fallsburg.
