Lumberland May Host
Alternative Rock Concert
By Susan Monteleone
GLEN SPEY August 4, 2000 It is still in the works, but recently Town of Lumberland officials gave tentative approval for a noise permit for a two-day outdoor concert which will feature alternative rock music. The event is to be held at the Ukrainian Fraternal Resort in Glen Spey during the month of September.
The Lumberland Environmental Council is still reviewing the concert, which is to be performed by a group called the Dark Angels.
The proposed event is to take place on the resorts fields and will feature ten bands: the Lords of Acid, Eye Candy and Ministry, to name a few. The organizing group is hoping to sell 3,800 tickets, and those attending the two-day concert would be camping on the property.
However, according to a resort spokesman, the resort has received no notice of the event, yet Chief Constable Kirk Meehan noted he has recently received correspondence from concert organizers regarding their plans.
The board, after a discussion period, approved a conditional permit by a 4-1 vote.
There will be guidelines that will have to be followed closely, and we will keep on top of the event, stated Supervisor Paul Brennan.
