Mary M. Collins
3rd Grade Teacher, 51

Mary M. Collins of Sparrowbush, a third grade teacher at Anna S. Kuhl Elementary School in Port Jervis and a 30-year area resident, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Mercy Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 51 years of age.
The daughter of Charles and Amelia Crescibene Catholdi, she was born May 25, 1948, in Lyons.
Mrs. Collins was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Matamoras, Pa., the New York State Teacher's Association, and the Kuhl School PTA. She was a graduate of Queen of Apostles College in Harriman and Buffalo State College and received her Master's degree at New Paltz.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her husband, William J. Collins, and a daughter, Amy Collins, both at home; her father and mother of Newark, N.Y.; a sister, Joanne Catholdi of Rochester; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Cathy Collins of Yulan; and aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Matamoras, Pa., with the Rev. John Turi officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Jervis.

Frank E. Rupp Sr., 65
Ret. Village Employee

Frank E. Rupp Sr.. of Monticello, a retired employee of the Village of Monticello Sewer Department and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at his home. He was 65 years of age.
The son of the late George and Marie Crawford Rupp, he was born November 25, 1934, in Hoboken, N.J.
A Korean War veteran of the U. S. Army, Mr. Rupp was a member of the Ridgerunner's Hunting Club in Harris.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Agnes Taggart Rupp, at home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Frank Jr. and Karen Rupp of Forestburgh and Allen Rupp of Monticello; three brothers, George Rupp of Forestburgh, Allan Rupp of Panama and Albert Rupp of Monticello; three sisters, Helen Calhoun and Linda Gregory, both of Monticello, and Valerie Rupp of Forestburgh; two granddaughters, Calley Anne Rupp and Brittany Taylor Rupp; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jerry.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Hoag officiating.
Burial will be made in the Glen Wild Cemetery in Glen Wild.

Pearl C. Jackson
Homemaker, 64

Pearl Cecelia "Peggy" Jackson of Westbrookville, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at her home. She was 64 years of age.
The daughter of the late Karl Joseph and Ella Louise Eichholtz, she was born October 28, 1935, in Maybrook. She was the widow of Robert Arthur Jackson.
Mrs. Jackson was a former member of St. Paul's Church in Bullville, a past member of the Wallkill Democratic Club and a past leader for the Sarah Wells Council of Girl Scouts. She did much volunteer work in the area.
In a family statement, it was said, "Peggy was a friend and help to all she touched. She was especially devoted to her family."
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William Arthur and Jill Jackson of Westminster, Colo; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and Charles Godfrey of Westbrookville and Barbara Ann Hodges of Broomfield, Colo.; a brother, Harry Eichholtz of Northville, Mich.; three sisters, June Gavin of Las Vegas, Nev., Marion Roe of Buies Creek, N.C., and Kay Roe of North Bend, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Robert Jackson, a sister, Ellen McQuiston, and two brothers, Karl Eichholtz Jr. and Robert Eichholtz.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 173 Sullivan St., Wurtsboro, with Deacon John Frohbose officiating.
Cremation will be made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Private interment of the ashes will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Middletown.

Sophie Schneider
Ret. Teacher's Aide, 84

Sophie Schneider of Narrowsburg, a retired teacher's aide for the Narrowsburg Central School, an area resident since 1973, formerly of Howard Beach and Brooklyn, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at the Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, Pa. She was 84 years of age.
The daughter of the late Walter and Josephine Pasko Maleszewski, she was born June 6, 1915, in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Schneider was a member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church and its Rosary Society, in Narrowsburg; the Catholic Daughters; and the American Baker & Confectionery Workers Union-Local #50 in Brooklyn.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Schneider, at home; three children and their spouses, Edward and Jane Schneider of Canton, Miss., Joanne and Ed Brennan of Narrowsburg and Joseph and Noreen Schneider of Baldwin; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Stanley, Edward and Charles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Thomas Jones officiating.
Interment will be made in St. Francis Cemetery in Narrowsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or to the Tusten Volunteer Ambulance Corps, both at Narrowsburg, N.Y. 12764.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.

Melody P. Keser
One-Month Old Infant

Melody Petek Keser of Jeffersonville, the one-month-old daughter of Ogul and Angela Cox Keser, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris.
She was born February 27, 2000, in Jeffersonville.
She is survived by her parents and two sisters, Kelly Sue and Hailey Nurten Keser, at home; her maternal grandfather, Robert Cox of North Carolina; her paternal grandmother, Nurten Keser of Turkey; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services were held Thursday in Heavenly Rest Cemetery in North Branch with the Rev. Kristen Anderson officiating,

Anthony Ferrara Sr.
Ret. Businessman, 87

Anthony L. "Tony" Ferrara Sr. of Sparrowbush, a retired employee of Campbell Soup Co. and a 30-year area resident, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at his home. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Dominick and Oliva Ingrassia Ferrara, he was born January 24, 1913, in the Bronx. He was the widower of Rita Mellon Ferrara who died October 8, 1966.
A World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy Seabees, he served in the Pacific Theatre of War. In his varied careers, Mr. Ferrara operated heavy equipment during the building of the Delaware Water Gap, sang with Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians during the big band era and, after retiring from the Campbell Soup Co., was a co-owner of the Book Nook in Port Jervis.
In a family statement, it was said, "He loved his flowers and gardening."
Mr. Ferrara is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dolores and John Kucera of Westbrookville, Christine and Dan Welty, and Patricia Ceccotti, all of York, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Linda Bechtler of Cuddebackville and Anthony L. "Skip" and Wendy Ferrara of Sparrowbush; a sister, Christine Ferrara of Daytona, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Larry Bechtler, and two brothers, Ben and James Ferrara.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis with the Rev. Dennis Dinan officiating.
Burial was made in St. Mary's Cemetery in Yonkers.

Laura M. Hallock
Homemaker, 88

Laura M. Hallock of Fairview, Utah, a homemaker and a former longtime Barryville resident, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Sanpete Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. She was 88 years of age.
The daughter of the late Alfred and Catherine Toussaint VanTuyl, she was born April 11, 1911, in Hillside. She was the widow of Edgar R. Hallock who died May 4, 1970.
Mrs. Hallock formerly attended the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church in Pond Eddy.
She is survived by a son, Richard Hallock of Fairview, Utah; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating.
Burial will be made in the Glen Spey Cemetery in Glen Spey.

Harrison Hobart
Ret. Nurses Aide, 76

Harrison Hobart of Livingston Manor, a nurses aide for many years at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Buffalo. He was 75 years of age.
The son of the late Benson and Josephine Engel Hobart, he was born October 7, 1923, in Morrston.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a prisoner of war in Germany and the recipient of a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Hobart was a member of the Kelly-Ratner Post of Disabled American Veterans in White Lake.
Mr. Hobart was also a member of the Assembly of God Church in Woodbourne.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Houck Hobart, at home; two sons, Kevin Hobart of Tucson, Ariz., and Monte Hobart of White Sulphur Springs; a step-son, Ronald Searles of Utica; a step-daughter, Lillian Fields of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three sisters, Mary Burroughs of Eutaw, Ala., Edith Newham of Beacon and Lida Hobart of Wallkill; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 South Main St., Liberty, with the Revs. Kathy and Richard Ienuso of the Woodbourne Assembly of God Church officiating.
Interment will be made in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery in Liberty.

Ebba M. Rundle, 75
Ret. Eldred Pres. Emply.

Ebba M. Rundle of Eldred, a retired employee of the Eldred Preserve Restaurant in Eldred and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in Mercy Hospital in Scranton, Pa. She was 75 years of age.
The daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Cox Sullivan, she was born June 18, 1924, in Eldred. She was the widow of Delbert G. Rundle.
Mrs. Rundle was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Port Jervis and was very active in helping with the Town of Highland Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two sons, Delbert Rundle of Woodbourne and William R. Rundle of Cochecton; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda, and a son, Paul Rundle.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Kingdom Hall for the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Port Jervis with Kenneth Kundert officiating.
Burial was made in Montoza Cemetery in Eldred.

Florence Cuoco, 57
Former Store Owner

Florence Cuoco of Swan Lake, the former owner of Broadway Discount in Monticello and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at her home. She was 57 years of age.
The daughter of Raymond Durnin and the late Margaret Trantino Durnin, she was born May 6, 1942, in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Cuoco was a trustee for the Sons of Italy.
She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Cuoco, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Todd Bowers Sr. of Monticello; a grandson, Todd James Bowers Jr.; her father and a sister, Vivian Mollica, both of the state of Florida; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Patrick and Mary Rose Cuoco; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at St. George's R.C. Church in Jeffersonville with the Rev. Robert Nee officiating.
Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery in Youngsville.

Tracy A. Wood
Bus Driver, 33

Tracy A. Wood of Monticello, a bus driver for the ShortLine Bus Company, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at his home. He was 33 years of age.
He was born August 12, 1966, in Utica.
Mr. Wood served in the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1989.
He is survived by several area friends.
Graveside services and burial were held Wednesday at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

Elvan K. Monington
Ret. Businessman, 87

Elvan K. Monington of Damascus, Pa., a lifelong area resident and retired from Bethany Homestead Farms and Moore Business Forms in Honesdale, Pa., died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at the Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, Pa. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Roy and Della Rice Monington, he was born November 28, 1912, in Damascus, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Monington, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Larry Kerber of Tyler Hill, Pa.; two sisters, Wanda Smith of Chenango Forks and Irma Marks of Hancock; two grandchildren, Kyle Kerber and his wife, Pam, and Beth Taninies and her husband, Clarke; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Clay Taninies; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by twin daughters, Marion and Martha, three brothers, Kenneth, Leary and Arlyn, two sisters, Beryl and Glera, and a grandson, Kevin.
Friends may call at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg on Friday from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Rev. George Gallandorm officiating.
Burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery in Damascus, Pa.

Dorothy Schroeder
Homemaker, 74

Dorothy Schroeder of Liberty, a homemaker and longtime area resident, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 74 years of age.
She was born February 19, 1926.
Miss Schroeder attended St. Peter's R.C. Church in Monticello for many years.
She is survived by a dear friend, Linda Guinan of Livingston Manor.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Stations of the Cross will be recited at 7:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius R.C. Church in Livingston Manor, followed by a Memorial Mass at 8:15 a.m. with the Rev. Alfred Croke as the celebrant. The Rosary will be recited following the Mass.
Interment of the cremains will be made later in Calvary Cemetery in Long Island City.
Funeral arrangements were made by Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

William Gobel
Ret. CPA, 86

William Gobel of Monticello, a 50-year area resident and a certified public account in Liberty, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Philip and Esther Gobel, he was born April 19, 1913, in Brooklyn.
Mr. Gobel was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, NYS Society of Certified Public Accountants, a life member of the Community General Hospital Auxiliary and a charter member of the Jewish Community Center in Monticello.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Bute Gobel, at home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ken Gobel of Monticello, John and Nancy Bute of Florida, and Peter and Dana Gobel of Randolph, Mass.; a daughter, Alexis Kahn of Woodbourne; six grandchildren, Simone Gobel, Michelle Kahn, Jessica Kahn, Alexa Bute, Abraham Gobel and Sophia Bute; a sister, Ruth Silver of Arizona. He was predeceased by a sister, Bernice Birnbaum.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 186 Broadway, Monticello.
Burial will be private.
