Vincent Campiglia
Ret. Businessman, 72

Vincent J. "Jim Campie" Campiglia of Liberty, a former co-owner of Major Supplies in Queens and a longtime area resident, died Monday, September 25, 2000, in Liberty. He was 72 years of age.
The son of the late Nicholas J. and Lena Malone Campiglia, he was born February 26, 1928, in Brooklyn.
Mr. Campiglia was a volunteer golf instructor at AMAPRO Golf in Liberty. He was also a member of U. S. Power Squadron Boating where he was also a volunteer instructor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well.
In a family statement, it was said, "He was a wonderful father, a loving husband and he lived for his family."
He is survived by his wife, Betty P. Campiglia, at home; four sons, Nicholas J. Campiglia of Pine Bush, Christopher J. Campiglia of Grahamsville, Robert J. Campiglia of Rochelle Park, N.J., and Mark J. Campiglia of Wantagh; a sister, Josephine Parlapiano of Seaside Heights, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and three nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Thursday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne with the Rev. John J. Lynch officiating.
Burial was made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Orange-Sullivan Hospice, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty.

James Yaple, 73
Ret. Truck Salesman

James "Jim" Yaple of Woodbourne, a retired heavy duty truck salesman for Arkel Motors in Newburgh, died Sunday, September 24, 2000, at the Stratton V.A. Medical Center in Albany after a long illness. He was 73 years of age.
The son of the late George and Nellie Lowe Yaple, he was born July 14, 1927, in Monticello.
Mr. Yaple was a member of the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Woodbourne. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Monticello Elks Lodge #1544 and a lifetime member of the Loch Sheldrake Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Norwood Yaple, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, James G. and Marcia Yaple of Neversink and Richard and Terry Yaple of Woodbourne; two step-sons and their spouses, Roy L. and Roxann Carpenter of Loch Sheldrake and Neal and Kathy Carpenter of Thompsonville; two step-daughters, Debbie Koromsky and her husband, Glenn, of Neversink, and Ruthann Blanton of Jacksonville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ida May Brown.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Route 42, in Woodbourne with the Rev. John J. Lynch officiating.
Interment will be made in St. Michael's Cemetery in Ulster Heights.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Wilbur Hoffmann
Ret. Asst. Super, 88

Wilbur Hoffmann of Sundown, a retired assistant building superintendent in New York City, a former Brooklyn Navy Yard employee and an 18-year area resident, died Monday, September 25, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 88 years of age.
The son of the late Joseph and Olga Jacob Hoffmann, he was born September 12, 1912, in Ridgewood.
Mr. Hoffmann was a dear friend of the Lows Corners Baptist Church and a member of the Sundown Senior Citizens Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Shaw Hoffmann, at home; two daughters, Gail Connors and her husband, Jim, of Sundown and Sherry Tacquard of Houston, Tex.; four grandchildren, Tracey Murphy of Liberty, Sherri Reynolds and her husband, Pete, of Sundown, and JoAnn Bostic and her husband, Dale, and Joyce Shadler and her husband, Cliff, all of Houston, Tex.; five great-grandchildren, Wesley, Nathan, Patrick, Christian and Ali; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, John Hoffmann, Julian Hoffmann, Henry Hoffmann and Joseph Hoffmann, and a sister, Mae Beckmann.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville with the Rev. Wendell Hauber officiating.
Burial was made in the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery in Grahamsville.

Clester Hatcher Jr.
Ret. Poultry Worker, 74

Clester Hatcher of South Fallsburg, a retired employee for Murray's Poultry in South Fallsburg, and a longtime area resident, died Saturday, September 23, 2000, at the Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 74 years of age.
He was born July 21, 1926, in Grafton, Va.
Mr. Hatcher is survived by several area friends.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello, on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Anthony Black officiating.
Burial will be made in Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.

Robert McNamara Sr.
Correctional Offc., 63

Robert Earl McNamara Sr. of Sundown, a 17-year correctional officer at the Eastern New York Correctional Facility in Napanoch and a former construction worker and mechanic, died Monday, September 25, 2000, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany. He was 63 years of age.
The son of the late Raymond Joseph and Viola Louise Crowfoot McNamara, he was born June 30, 1937, in Bridgeport, Conn.
He was a member of the Ellenville Elks Lodge #1971, and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by five children, Mark McNamara of Sundown, Sherry Romano of Saddle Brook River, N.J., Robert McNamara Jr. of Richmond, Va., Daniel McNamara of Long Beach, Miss., Debra McNamara of Sundown; a brother, Raymond McNamara Jr. of Napanoch; six grandchildren, Bobby, Jennifer, D.J. Kimberly, Mikey, Tyler, and Shawn; a sister, Joyce Schweiss of North Haven, Conn.; his companion, Grace Furman, at home; his former wife, Betty Jane McNamara of Hartford, W. Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville with the Rev. Lorraine Coscia Ackerman officiating.
Cremation was private.

Mary D. Ferri
Homemaker, 93

Mary D. Ferri of Cornwall-on-Hudson, a homemaker, died Tuesday, September 26, 2000, at the Sylcox Health Care Facility in Newburgh. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late Felix and Maria Pagnani DeBenedictis, she was born April 11, 1907, in Campoli, Italy. She was the widow of Joseph Ferri.
Mrs. Ferri was a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
She is survived by a son, Joseph Ferri of Cornwall-on-Hudson; three daughters, Teresa Roosa of Monticello, Mary Parmenter of Cornwall and Loretta Neubauer of Dallas, Tex.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Antonette Decker Koury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson with the Rev. Bernard Heter officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Iola Denney
Homemaker, 80

Iola Denney of Thompson, Pa., a homemaker, died Tuesday, September 26, 2000, at her home. She was 80 years of age.
The daughter of the late Miles Lovelace and Ida Lovelace Sutton, she was born in Lanesboro, Pa.
Mrs. Denney was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale, Pa. She was totally devoted to her family and was an avid bingo player.
She is survived by seven sons, Myron Denney Jr. of Thompson, Pa., her caregiver, Donald Denney of Ballston Lake, Gerald Denney of Clifton Park, Larry Denney and Jim Denney, both of Carbondale, Pa., Charles Denney of Mechanicville and Jackie Denney of Tunkhannock, Pa.; three daughters, Barbara Swingle of Galway, Shirley Knise of Lew Beach and Laurie Denney of Carbondale, Pa.; two sisters, Mildred Bound of Liberty and Lailah Hadden of Binghamton; 29 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Harry, and 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Oliver R. Shifler Funeral Home in Carbondale, Pa., with the Rev. Kenneth R. Carder officiating.
Burial will be made in Ararat Cemetery.

Emmitt R. Coney
Ret. From DPW, 70

Emmitt R. Coney, a 12-year resident of Hudson, Fla., a former Monticello resident and former employee of the Sullivan County Department of Public Works, retiring May 21, 1986, died Sunday, August 27, 2000, in Hudson, Fla. He was 70 years of age.
The son of the late Benjamin Sr. and Julia King Coney, he was born June 21, 1930, in Monticello.
Mr. Coney is survived by his wife, Theresa Colo Coney, at home; two sons, Emmitt Coney of Hudson, Fla., and Jerry Coney of Lebanon, Tenn.; a daughter, Marian Parks of Kiamesha Lake; two sisters, Violet Decker of Liberty and Ruth Misner of Kauneonga Lake; three grandchildren, Jerrod Coney, Richard Parks III and Tricia Parks; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Benjamin Jr., Charles, Ralph and Russell Coney, and a sister, Grace King.
Graveside services and interment of the cremains will be made at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel with the Rev. David Coon officiating.

Kathleen Nygard
Ret. Waitress, 71

Kathleen "Kitty" Nygard of Hudson, Fla., a former Smallwood resident, a homemaker and a former waitress, died Saturday, September 23, 2000, in Hudson, Fla. She was 71 years of age.
The daughter of the late George and Helen Miller, she was born in Middletown on July 29, 1929. She was the widow of Nils Nygard.
In a family statement, it was said, "She enjoyed knitting, biking and crafts. She was a great mother and a treasured friend to many."
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Newham of Jeffersonville and Lori Jeffrey and her husband, C.T., of Richmond, Va.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John and Linda Nygard of Deltona, Fla., Randy Nygard of Kauneonga Lake, and Danny and Lori Nygard of Woodbourne; two sisters, Irene Hitt of Woodbourne and Brenda Josef of Richmond, Va.; eight grandchildren, Lisa Newham Janowski of Narrowsburg, Pamela Newham of Union City, N.J., Kimberly Newham Gaebel of Lexington, S.C., Michael Paul Newham of Jeffersonville, William Hatton of Jeffersonville, Tabetha Nygard of Albany and Ashley and Sara Nygard of Woodbourne; and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Nicole Gaebel.
Cremation was made in Florida.

Gerald J. Marsh Jr., 22

Gerald J. Marsh Jr. of Monticello died Wednesday, September 27, 2000, in Monticello. He was 22 years of age.
The son of the late Gerald J. Sr. and Cynthia Novak Marsh, he was born February 13, 1978, in Harris.
He is survived by two brothers, John Marsh of Monticello and Kristopher Marsh of Neversink; his grandmother, Charlotte Kolakowski of Hawley, Pa.; three aunts, Alicia Shickle of Mongaup Valley, Cindy Burns of Fallsburg and Amy Kolakowski of Hawley, Pa.; and several cousins.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Church in Monticello.
Burial will be made in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery in Bloomingburg.
