SULLIVAN COUNTY December 26, 2000 Three county athletes were selected to all-state teams in their respective sports.
Heather Iatauro of Tri-Valley was an all-state cross country Class D first team pick. A freshman, Iatauro has won three straight Section IX Class D cross country titles and added a Class D state title on November 10 at SUNY-Utica.
She has placed in the top five in all three state championship appearances and holds numerous freshman school records.
Danielle Austin of Roscoe was selected to the state Class D second team by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports. Austin, the last MVP of the now-defunct Western Sullivan League, was a second team state pick in 1999 as well. She scored 49 goals this year in leading Roscoe to its second straight Section IX Class D title. She finished her varsity career with 120 goals.
Eighth-grader Jamie Clifford of Sullivan West started a promising varsity career by winning the Section IX Class C cross country race. She was a Class C state all-star honorable mention.
