Olaf Halvorsen
Ret. Plumber, 80

Olaf Halvorsen of Rock Hill, a retired plumber and a longtime area resident, died Friday, November 16, 2001, at the Walnut Mountain Care Center in Liberty. He was 80 years of age.
Born April 15, 1921, in Brooklyn, Mr. Halvorsen was a member of Local #373 Plumbers and Steamfitters in New York. He had also served in the Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his friend and confidante, Douglas Mildner of Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan County ASPCA, Rock Hill, N.Y. 12775.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty.

Karen J. Jones
Homemaker, 44

Karen J. Jones of Bloomingburg, a homemaker and a 22-year area resident, died Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. She was 44 years of age.
The daughter of Dorothy Hoehn Hopper and the late Raymond Hopper Jr., she was born September 20, 1957.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Community Church of Bloomingburg.
She is survived by her mother of Bloomingburg; by her husband, Chauncey M. Jones, at home; two sisters, Darlene J. Baggatta of Loch Sheldrake and Sheila J. Eckerson of Bloomingburg; a brother, Walter Raymond Hopper of Woodbourne; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, with the Rev. Betty Beach officiating.
Burial will be made in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery in Bloomingburg.

Florence M. Lucyk
Homemaker, 79

Florence M. Lucyk of West Melbourne, Fla., and Mountaindale, a homemaker, died Friday, November 9, 2001, at the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla. She was 79 years of age.
The widow of Anthony Lucyk, she was born June 4, 1922, in Newark, N.J.
Mrs. Lucyk was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Loyal Order of the Moose #1406, a volunteer at Health First Hospice and a member of the Catholic Chapel at Florida Tech.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeannette Kamp of Portland, Oreg., and Lorraine Mun and her husband, Yoke, of Dianville, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Judy Lucyk of Mountaindale; five grandchildren, Terrie Venuti, Valerie Defrain, Lorrie and Mark Kamp and Michael Lucyk; three great-grandchildren, Salvatore, Gianna Venuti and David Defrain; and a sister, Irene Roberts of West Melbourne, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main St., Woodbourne.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Connecticut.

Ida Hassenmayer
Retired RN, 72

Ida May Hassenmayer of Wildwood, Fla., a retired registered nurse, formerly of Middletown, died Tuesday, November 20, 2001. She was 72 years of age.
Mrs. Hassenmayer was born in Troy.
She is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Hassenmayer, at home; three sons, Scott Lewis of Jacksonville, Fla., William Hassenmayer of Massachusetts and R. Mark Hassenmayer of Middletown; four daughters, Barbara Goodenow of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Linda Hassenmayer and Karen Hassenmayer, both of Middletown and Susan Chubay of Bloomingburg; a brother, William Riffelbach of Troy; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Florida.

Florence Michelone, 72
Rory Michelone, 43

Florence Michelone and her son, Rory Michelone, both of Middletown, died November 5, 2001, at their home. She was 72 and he was 43 years of age.
The daughter of the late Enoch and Mary Madeline Moroz Fadrowski, Mrs. Michelone was born November 19, 1929, in Greenpoint. She was the widow of Mario Michelone who died December 6, 2000.
The son of Florence Fadrowski Michelone and the late Mario Michelone, Rory was born December 17, 1959.
Mrs. Michelone dedicated her life to the care of her son. He was the center of all her attention and, although he was disabled, she spent her life insuring his safety, well-being and that he never would be institutionalized.
They are survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ignatius and Ann Fadrowski; and her niece, Mary Fadrowski.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Graveside services and burial were held at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery in Bloomingburg.

William Grady III
Retired Fireman, 79

William T. Grady III of Barryville, a retired fireman from Yonkers and a 32-year area resident, died Saturday, November 17, 2001, at the Eaton Park Nursing Home in Poughkeepsie. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late William T. and Mary F. Curran Grady Jr., he was born June 1, 1922, in New York.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion Post No. 1363, and a member of the Tusten-Highland Post No. 6427, Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Eldred. He was also a member of the Beaver Brook Rod and Gun Club. Mr. Brady was the Multiple Dwelling Inspector for the Town of Highland.
In a family statement, it was said, "He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved the outdoors for hunting and fishing. Also, as a community-minded volunteer, he helped many of the elderly."
He is survived by his wife, June L. Paquette Grady, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis K. and Rebecca Grady of Pottstown, Pa., and Daniel T. and Angela Grady of Mill Rift, Pa.; a daughter and son-in-law, Coleen and Arthur Burns of Poughkeepsie; a daughter-in-law, Paula Grady of Fishkill; a sister, Regina F. Venuti of Elmsford; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joy June Hagen, and a son, William G. Grady IV.
Services were held Wednesday at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville with Deacon Glenn Biagi officiating.
Burial was made in Montoza Cemetery in Barryville.

James J. Sheehan
Ryder Pool Employee

James J. Sheehan of Monticello, a 12-year area resident and an employee of Ryder Pool and Deck in Mongaup Valley, died Sunday, November 18, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris.
He is survived by his wife, AnnMarie Destler Sheehan, at home; a step-daughter, Michele Rosado of New York City; a sister, Ann Marie Corbett of New York City; and a step-brother, John Tate of Ronkonkoma.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Monticello.

Carl L. Mc Kay Sr., 65

Carl L. Mc Kay Sr. of Elizabeth, N.J., formerly of Liberty, died November 7, 2001, at the Manor Park Home in Linden, N.J., after a short illness.
The son of the late Leonard and Ruth Mc Kay, he was born January 19, 1936, in Liberty.
He is survived by a brother, Robert E. Mc Kay of Jeffersonville, a niece Mariann Mc Kay and a nephew, Robert Mc Kay Jr., all of Jeffersonville; a son, Carl Mc Kay Jr. of New Jersey; and a longtime friend, Mary Meglio of Elizabeth, N.J.
