Results of the Annual
Francisco Relays

By Frank Rizzo
GRAHAMSVILLE — May 8, 2001 – Once they were known as the Western Sullivan League Coaches’ Relays, then the name Ron Francisco Memorial was added in 1996 after the late Liberty CS teacher, coach, and track official died. Now, with the demise of the WSL, just the Francisco name remains.
It is a meet in which coaches can experiment with different relay combinations and which also tests a team’s depth in many events, especially in the field.
Ezra Bialy of Red Hook was chosen the outstanding field athlete after setting a meet record of 47-4 in the triple jump, one of the best marks of the season in New York State.
Tri-Valley’s Heather Iatauro easily took the 1600-meter steeplechase in preparation for possibly running the 2000-meter steeple at the state meet.
Sandra Scholz of Sullivan West already owns the school record in the 400 (1:00.4, set last week). On Saturday the senior ran 5:12.9 in the 1500 to set yet another school mark. See results below.
