The Year in Review
For Family School Softball

By Rob Potter
FRENCH WOODS — July 6, 2001 – Overall Record: 0–15
League Record: 0–10 OCIAA Division V
Top Hitters: Junior pitcher/third baseman Laura Principe led the team with a .500 batting average. She recorded a team-best 18 RBI, scored 14 runs and walked four times this season.
Sophomore shortstop/outfielder Deanna Mitnaul batted .313 for the Lady Falcons. She knocked in eight runs and scored 10 runs. In addition, Mitnaul drew eight walks from opposing pitchers.
Top Pitcher(s): Principe and senior Megan LaRoach shared the pitching duties for the Lady Falcons. “It was a learning experience for both of them,” coach Mike Losicco said.
Season Highlight: “After the fifth game of the season, we were in every game,” Losicco said. “We had a chance to win in eight of our last 10 games. The girls played together as a team and didn’t quit.”
Losicco also noted that a few girls on the team who had little or no softball experience prior to this season really made improvements in their play. Among those players were Katie Bahlburg, Ruth Brown and Polly George.
Season Lowlight: “The first five games of the season we felt we couldn’t compete,” Losicco said. “We were getting blown out, losing games by many runs.”
