Well At Invite

SCHUYLERVILLE — October 26, 2001 – Both the Tri-Valley boys and girls cross country teams placed in the top 10 at last Saturday’s Schuylerville Invitational at Saratoga State Park.
The boys’ squad finished sixth with 152 points, four points and two places ahead of fellow Section IX school Millbrook. The girls’ team placed fourth with 128 points. The Lady Bears were just 20 points behind the host school Schuylerville, which took third place with 108 points.
Heather Iatauro continued her winning ways, as she beat all the other 88 girls in the race to the finish line. Iatauro completed the 5k course in 18:07.32.
Also finishing in the top 20 was Tri-Valley’s Tara Taylor. She ran the course in 20:30.90.
Other T-V finishers included: Tracy Taylor (36th, 21:27.14), Vanessa Houghtaling (56th, 22:22.69), Erin Paul (82nd, 26:24.71), Tiffany Wright (84th, 27:26.17) and Caryn Dymond (85th, 27:36.38).
Tara Taylor was the fifth freshman to cross the line, Houghtaling was the 13th sophomore and Paul was the 21st sophomore to finish.
On the boys’ side, Bear runners Steve Creek and Adrien Hobbs finished among the top 20. Creek finished sixth in 16:16.43, while Hobbs was 14th with a time of 16:49.89.
Also competing for the Bears were Travis Wolfe (28th, 17:20.91), Brenton Smith (46th, 17:55.94), Adam Wilson (50th, 18:08.19), Jeremy Mathsen (74th, 18:42) and Donald Curry (76th, 18:44.97).
Creek was the third senior to finish and Hobbs was the eighth senior to cross the line. Wolfe was the second freshman to finish, Smith was the 16th junior, Wilson was the 11th sophomore and Mathesen and Curry were the 11th and 12th, respectively, freshmen to cross the line.
The Tri-Valley runners will join scores of area runners this afternoon at Bear Mountain State Park for the OCIAA Championship.
