Memorial Service
for Evelyn Ackerley

A graveside memorial service and burial will be held for Evelyn Ackerley of Boring, Oreg., who died January 29, 2002, at the Grahamsville Cemetery in Grahamsville on Saturday, April 6, 2002, at 1 p.m.
The daughter of the late Bert and Susan Newton Crossman, she was born June 13, 1915, in Graphite.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Coley Dalmaso of Boring, Oreg., and Marie Coley Schersching of Merced, Calif.; three sons, John Coley of Sebastian, Fla., Harold Smith of Santa Maria, Calif., and Rubin Ackerley and Floyd Ackerley, both of Grahamsville; two sisters, Norma Porter and Vera Holman, both of Ticonderoga; 22 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Nicholas Scheno
Ret. Assembler, 78

Nicholas Scheno of Liberty, a longtime area resident and a retired assembler at the Sullivan Industries in Monticello, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, after a long illness.
The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Scheno, he was born September 26, 1923, in September.
He attended the Rose Valley Day Care Program in Monticello until he became ill and could no longer attend.
He is survived by a brother, an aunt and his family at the Sullivan Industries and Hudson Valley DDSO.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered by Rev. Ivan Csete at St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty on Thursday.
Burial was made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Liberty.
Funeral arrangements were made by Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Frances M. Brucher
School Secretary, 65

Frances May Brucher of Middletown, a secretary for the Minisink Valley Central School District and a lifelong Middletown resident, died March 31, 2002, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 65 years of age.
The daughter of the late Caleb and Harriet Decker Woodruff, she was born November 11, 1936, in Middletown.
She was a 1954 graduate of Middletown High School, attended Orange County Community College and was a secretary to the elementary principal of the Minisink Valley Central School District.
Mrs. Brucher was a past union president of C.S.E.A. and a member of the Mt. Hope Election Board. She enjoyed photography, swimming and water ballet.
In a family statement, it was said, "She enjoyed watching wildlife and made the best bread and butter pickles in Orange County."
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Thomas A. Brucher Sr., at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Kathaleen Brucher of Glen Falls; a brother, Charles Woodruff of Wolf Lake; and two grandchildren, Breanna and Shannon. She was predeceased by a brother, Caleb Woodruff.
Services were held Thursday at the Faith Reformed Church in South Centerville with Pastor Bert Von Soest officiating.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Anne P.K. Fenner, 79

Anne Patricia Keating Fenner of Laurel, Del., a former Otisville resident and a retired New York State employee of the Middletown Psychiatric Hospital, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Laurel, Del. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Patrick Francis and Anna Mathilda Davis Keating, she was born September 24, 1922, in Glen Wild.
Mrs. Fenner is survived by her husband of 60 years, Howard Christopher Fenner, at home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Jon Walston of Boonville, Elaine and Roger VanLeuven of Woodbourne, Marion (Walston) and Arlie Wooters Jr. of Laurel, Del., and Patricia and Raymond Smith Jr. of Neversink; a sister, Madeliene Keating Gordon of Rock Hill; six grandchildren, Kathy Walston Dodd, Karen Walston, Thomas Santiago VanLeuven, Christopher Walston, Annette Smith and Tammy Smith; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Janine Lynch, Brendon Mark Lynch, Mariah Brooks Walston, Zachary Ryan Klutts, Jeremy Logan Klutts and Tyler Joshua Lynn. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Christopher Fenner, a brother, Floyd Keating, and three sisters, Rose Keller, Frances Schaefer and Alice Allen.
Services were held at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Fr. Robert Ginel officiating.
Interment was made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.

Gertrude C. Turi
Homemaker, 84

Gertrude C. Turi of Middletown, a homemaker and longtime area resident, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 84 years of age.
The daughter of the late William and Della Callanan Stevens, she was born January 18, 1918, in Highland Falls. She was the widow of John J. Turi.
Mrs. Turi was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown.
She is survived by four sons, Edward Turi of Middletown, John Turi of New Jersey, Steven Turi of Connecticut and Kirk Simone of Barryville; two daughters, Mary Anne Sarosky of Pennsylvania and Karen Turi of Middletown; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Thursday at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown.
Interment was made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Middletown.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, N.Y. 10940.
