Michael B. Henke
Dairy Farmer, 52

Michael Bernard Henke of Callicoon, a dairy farmer and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at his home after an illness. He was 52 years of age.
The son of Francis R. and Joan Hebert Henke, he was born January 7, 1950, in Callicoon.
Mr. Henke was a member of Holy Cross Church in Callicoon, a member and past chief of the Callicoon Fire Department and a former councilman of the Town of Delaware. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Sullivan County Agway Board and a member and past director of the Sullivan County Cooperative Extension in Liberty.
He is survived by his parents of Callicoon; his wife, Kim Kinch Henke, at home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin and Jimmy Porter of Callicoon and Katrina and Daniel Johnston of Roscoe; a son, Michael M. Henke of Callicoon; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn and Gary Coleman of Port Jervis and Diane and Hans Drenkard of Stratford, Conn.; four brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Christina Henke of Dryden, Bernard and Donna Henke of Pine Bush, Paul and Connie Henke of Gardiner and Francis and Marlena Henke of Horseheads; his father-in-law, Dale Kinch of Allentown, Pa.; two uncles, Conrad and his wife, Helen Henke, of Charlotte, N.C., and James Henke of Callicoon; an aunt, Marie Henke of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Rosary Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Holy Cross Church in Callicoon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with Father Anthony Moore, O.F.M., officiating.
Cremation will be made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Callicoon Fire Department, P.O. Box 806, Callicoon, N.Y. 12723 or to the Chemo Therapy Lab of Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Pa. 18431.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon.

Margaret Suppa
Homemaker, 66

Margaret Suppa of Glen Spey, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 66 years of age.
The daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Savery Bernardo, she was born December 8, 1935, in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Suppa was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Pond Eddy and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard Suppa, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Gina Suppa of Glen Spey; a daughter and son-in-law, Bernadine and Michael Dennis of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; two sisters, Dorothy Whitaker of Eldred and Anna May Pecora of Queens; four grandchildren, Brandon, Kevin, Katie and Michalla; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Pond Eddy with the Rev. Anthony Moore officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Eldred.

Donald F. Nichols Jr.
Navy Veteran, 38

Donald F. Nichols Jr. of Albertville, Ala., died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at the Marshall Medical Center South in Albertville, Ala. He was 38 years of age.
The son of Donald F. Sr. and Glenda Nichols, he was born July 19, 1963, in Corpus Christi, Tex.
Mr. Nichols served in the United States Navy from 1981 to 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Lowery Nichols, two sons, Justin Lowery and John Byron Nichols II, and a daughter, Amanda Louise Nichols, all of Albertville, Ala; his father and step-mother, Donald F. Sr. and Sherrie Nichols of Liberty; his mother, Glenda Nichols Goble of Boaz, Ala.; four brothers, Richard Leslie Nichols and John Lee Nichols, both of Liberty, and Martin Goble and Jeffery Goble of Boaz, Ala.; and his paternal grandmother, Irma K. Nichols of Liberty.

Edith Werlau, 85
Ret. Cafeteria Mgr.

Edith Werlau of Modena, a retired assistant manager of the Katonah-Lewisboro School District cafeteria in Lewisboro, and a former North Salem resident, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at her home. She was 85 years of age.
The daughter of the late Walter and Emma Judson Townsend, she was born October 10, 1916, in Bethel. She was the widow of John Werlau to whom she had been married 70 years and who died July 16, 2002.
Mrs. Werlau was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Modena and a volunteer at North Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Joan Werlau of Modena and Glenn and Christel Werlau of Patterson, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Austin Kile of South Salem; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Traver.
Services were held Friday at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Modena.
Burial was private at the Hortonville Cemetery in Hortonville.

Valerie Horridge
Safety Director, 45

Valerie A. Foscaldi Horridge, a five-year resident of Mountaindale, a former Highland resident and a safety director for Tilcon, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at the Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was 45 years of age.
The daughter of Louis Foscaldi and the late Judith Fortunato Foscaldi, she was born May 24, 1957, in Poughkeepsie.
Mrs. Horridge was a member of Terry Brae Lochmor Golf Club in Fallsburg. She was an avid sportsman, loved her dogs, loved to walk and enjoyed the outdoors.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Horridge, at home; her father of Highland; two brothers, Louis Foscaldi of Highland and Michael Foscaldi of Connecticut; four nieces; a nephew; and several cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Italian Center, 227 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie.

John Fischer
Ret. Mason, 86

John Fischer of Cochecton, a retired self-employed mason and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Casper and Emma Stewart Fischer, he was born October 9, 1915, in Bethel. He was the widower of Inez Calkin Fischer.
Mr. Fischer was a member of the Fosterdale United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Janet Barnes of Binghamton and Joan Gabriel of Cochecton; a sister, Mary Green of Charlotte, N. C.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Fischer, and a daughter, Janice Fallar.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Cremation will be made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.
