Mary P. Carroll Connell of Riverdale and Beaverkill, a homemaker, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2002. She was 87 years of age.
She was the widow of Victor J. Connell.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary E. Connell of Philadelphia, Pa.; a son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Colleen Connell of Haddonfield, N.J.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale, Ave., Bronx, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Margaret of Cortona Church in the Bronx.
Interment will be made at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Marvin Magid, 77
Former Liberty Mayor
Marvin Magid of Alpharetta, Ga., a former mayor and resident of Liberty, died Monday, September 2, 2002. He was 77 years of age.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Marines and serving also in the Korean War, he was the owner and operator of Magid Insurance Agency for over 30 years. Mr. Magid had served on the Liberty School Board of Education and was a past president of both the Rotary and Lions clubs in Liberty.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Magid, at home; two daughters, Robin Gordon and Debra Scapillato; a son-in-law, Alan Gordon; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Alvin and Lori Magid; three grandchildren, Ariel, Matt and Joey Gordon; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were held Wednesday at Arlington Cemetery with Rabbi Mark Zimmerman officiating.

Thomas Reed
Ret. Laborer, 83
Thomas Reed of Monticello, a retired laborer with Local 17 of Sullivan County and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at his home. He was 83 years of age.
The son of the late Prince and Anna Murray Reed, he was born May 1, 1919, in Miami, Fla.
The widower of Viola Reed, he was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Reed is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Quinonnes Espute; four grandchildren, Dominea, Lisa, Angela and Luis; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; many God-children; and a host of family and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Milton Reed; a sister, Marian; a son Thomas Reed and a grandson, Mister.
Services were held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Monticello with the Rev. Willie Smith officiating.
Burial was made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.

Dolores M. Quick
Homemaker, 74
Dolores M. Quick of Roscoe, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at the Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. She was 74 years of age.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Paulina Fucci Meali, she was born April 28, 1928, in Livingston Manor. She was the widow of John H. Quick who died in 1997.
Mrs. Quick was a communicant of the Gate of Heaven R.C. Church, and a member of the Rosary Society and the church choir, where she was recognized for her beautiful voice. She was also a member of the Rockland Hose Co. #1 Auxiliary and the Livingston Manor Fire Co. Auxiliary.
In a family statement, it was said, "God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered, 'Come with me!' A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best."
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia L. Murtagh of Middletown and Madeline L. Fuller and her husband, James, of Roscoe; a son, John R. Quick of Saugerties; a brother, Patrick C. Mealie of Roscoe; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Kurt, Colleen, Michael, Andrew, Kelly and Rachel; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 12 siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday at 10 a.m. at the Gate of Heaven R.C. Church in Roscoe with the Rev. William Collins officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Livingston Manor.

Richard T . Fisher, 59
Richard T. Fisher of Middletown died Sunday, September 1, 2002, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. He was 59 years of age.
The son of the late James and Blanche Ballard Mortimer, he was born March 14, 1943, in Middletown.
Mr. Fisher was a member of BPOE Lodge #1097 in Middletown.
He is survived by four brothers, James Fisher of Gloversville, John Fisher and Ralph Fisher, both of Schenectady and Donald Fisher of Catskill; a sister, Blanche Fisher of Bloomingburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home in Middletown.
Burial was made in the Wallkill Cemetery in Phillipsburg.
Cheryl Hulse Karas

Cheryl Anne Hulse Karas of Cohoes, employed by New York State Auto Dealers Insurance in Albany, died Saturday, August 31, 2002, in Cohoes. She was 52 years of age.
The daughter of Cecelia Cram Hulse and the late Edward Adams Hulse, she was born October 23, 1949, in Long Eddy. She was the widow of Willi Karas who died in 1998.
A 1967 graduate of the Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon, she was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force during which time she was stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany.
Mrs. Karas is survived by three daughters, April Rigginio and her husband, Robert, of Staten Island, Amy Karas of Ravena and Lisa Karas of Cohoes; her mother of Long Eddy; five brothers, Edward Hulse of Port Jervis, Jeffrey Hulse of Sparrowbush, Richard Hulse of Rome, Gregory Hulse of New Windsor and Jon Hulse of Long Eddy; a sister, Sandra McBride of Rock Tavern; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a brother-in-law and several sisters-in-law.
Services were held Tuesday at St. Anthony's Church in Troy.

Susan McArdle of Roscoe, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Friday, August 30, 2002 at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home in Roscoe. She was 100 years of age.
The daughter of the late Peter and Cecelia Miles Quinn, she was born February 16, 1902, in New York City. She was the widow of James McArdle who died in 1970.
She was a communicant of the Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe and had been a member of the Roscoe Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a niece, Mary Louise Sargent of Dewey, Ariz.; and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday at the Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe with the Rev. William Collins officiating.

Eleanor Kraujalis of Sunrise, Fla., a retired telephone operator, died Thursday, August 29, 2002, at the Sunrise Health Center in Sunrise, Fla. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late James and Mary Brisk Stewart, she was born February 15, 1909, in New York City. She was the widow of Sigmund Kraujalis who died in 1983.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Patricia Degel of Flushing; two sisters, Beverly Brinkman of Beach Lake, Pa., and Ruthie Hocknail of the state of Florida; a brother, Quinten Stewart of Florida; and four grandchildren, Clifford, James, Edward and William.
Services were held Thursday at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Burial was made in Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg.

The daughter of the late John and Veronica Celnicki Przekop, she was born March 27, 1909, in Schenectady. She was the widow of Stephen P. Skalski.
Mrs. Skalski is survived by a son, Norbert Skalski of Monticello; a daughter, Barbara Bramblett of Camden, Ark.; a brother, Carl Przekop of Schenectady; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen.

Donald Underhill, 57
Donald Underhill of Liberty, a member of the Center for Discovery family and a longtime area resident, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 57 years of age.
The son of the late D.B. and Marie McDonald Underhill, he was born November 13, 1944, in New York City.
Mr. Underhill attended the Sullivan ARC Program.
In a family statement, it was said, "Donald brought much pleasure into the lives of the people who cared for him. He will be missed by everyone."
He is survived by his extended family and friends at the Center for Discovery.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, with the Rev. Robert Nadelen officiating.
Burial will be made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.
Anthony Lackey

Anthony "Tony" Lackey of Livingston Manor, a salesman and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, September 3, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 46 years of age.
The son of the late Roy and Hilda Joyce Helms Lackey, he was born December 29, 1955, in Liberty.
Mr. Lackey was a member of Manor Hose Company #1 of the Livingston Manor Fire Department, a Fire Commissioner of the Livingston Manor Fire Department, a member and past president of the Livingston Manor Lions Club and Zone Chairman for District 20-0 Lions International.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Hubbert Lackey, whom he married September 13, 1986, at Our Lady of Lourdes Camp in Grooville, and two sons, Kyle Lackey and Kelly Lackey, all at home; two brothers, Roy Lackey Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of LIvingston Manor, and Steven Lackey of the state of Florida; a sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Lioner Sanabria of Livingston Manor; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St., Livingston Manor, with Rev. Kristen Anderson officiating.

Daisy A. Doty

Daisy A. Doty of Lacey, Wash., a former resident of Waldwick, N.J. and Wanaksink Lake, Rock Hill, died Monday, September 2, 2002, in Lacey. She was 87 years of age.
The daughter of the late Williard Belknap and Daisy Pearl Stanbra Anderson, she was born January 5, 1915, in South Prairie, Wash. She was the widow of Kenneth C. Doty who she married on April 17, 1948.
She was raised in eastern and western Washington before graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Nutritional Sciences. After working in the Seattle and Chicago area, she entered the Army, serving primarily in Kentucky during World War II. She also worked in Philadelphia, Pa., and New York City. She and her husband relocated to the state of Washington in the early 1990s to be nearer their daughters.
Mrs. Doty was an avid reader and crafter and greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by three children, Kathryn Morrow of Lynnwood, Wash., Karen VanGelder of Auburn, Wash., and Charles F. Doty of Syosset.

Oscar Rojas of Forestburgh, a 35-year area resident and a retired mechanic for the AFLCIO who worked for General Motors at University Chevrolet in the Bronx, died Monday, September 2, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 95 years of age.
The son of the late Jose and Maria A. Silva Rojas, he was born June 23, 1907, in Caracas, Venuzuela.
Mr. Rojas was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Forestburgh, a former member of the Monticello Volunteer Ambulance Corps, a past president of the Forestburgh Senior Citizens and had previously been named a Senior Citizen of the Year.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carmen Moralies Rojas, at home; two sons, Roy Rojas of Forestburgh and Richard Rojas of West Babylon; a sister, Beatrice Morrero of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren, Denise Burgio, Richard E. Rojas, Bryan L. Rojas, Melissa F. Rojas and Michael R. Rojas; and two great-grandchildren, Denna and Timothy Burgio. He was predeceased by three brothers, Albert, Joseph and Charles Rojas.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Thursday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Forestburgh with the Rev. Ivan Csete officiating.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Rose Gottlieb of Lauderhill, Fla., and a longtime resident of Mountaindale, died Sunday, September 1, 2002, at the Springtree Rehabilitation Center in Springtree, Fla. She was 91 years of age.
The daughter of the late Louis and Minnie Shelkowitz Koloff, she was born September 3, 1910, in Passaic, N.J. She was the widow of Abe Gottlieb who died in 1982.
Mrs. Gottlieb was a member of the Woodridge-Mountaindale Chapter of Hadassah, the Woodridge Senior Citizens and secretary for the Community Park Homeowners Association.
She is survived by a son, Michael R. Gottlieb of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a daughter, Merle Ann Bercow of Wallkill; four grandchildren, Rhonda Gottlieb Diamond, Eric Gottlieb, Paul Bercow and Jill Bercow Hamilton; and four great-grandchildren, Aaron Hamilton, Madelaine Hamilton, Hunter Gottlieb and Harrison Diamond. She was predeceased by two brothers, Bernard and Benjamin Koloff.
Services were held Wednesday at the Mountaindale Synagogue in Mountaindale with Rabbi Ben Chanowitz officiating.
Burial was made in the Mountaindale Synagogue Cemetery in Glen Wild.

Bertha Rueger Muehlenkamp of Gulf Breeze, Fla., a former resident of Wurtsboro, died Friday, August 30, 2002, in Gulf Breeze, Fla. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Cahill Rueger, she was born April 22, 1912, in New York City.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carole Jeanne and Michael Bonney of Pine Bush; a granddaughter and her husband, Lisa and Richard Garvilla of New Paltz; a grandson, Russell of Houston, Tex.; a sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and John Haley of Wurtsboro; a nephew and his wife, Jack and Toni Haley of Wurtsboro; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Frederick Rueger, a sister, Margaret Creedon; and two grandsons, James Scott and Michael
Interment will be private at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.

Mary Sabol Worobey, a four-year resident of Niskayuna a former longtime resident of Wolf Lake, died Tuesday, September 2, 2002, in Schenectady. She was 82 years of age.
The widow of George Worobey, who died in 1998 after 52 years of marriage, she was born in Czechoslovakia.
Mrs. Worobey attended St. Helen's Church and was a former member of St. Joseph's Church in Wurtsboro.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, Maryann and David Bogner of Niskayuna, Nina and Richard Wisniewski of Saratoga Springs and George and Barbara Worobey of Reno, Nev.; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Theresa Sabol of Florida; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., Schenectady on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
