Rose M. Gallo
Homemaker, 94
Rose M. Gallo of Liberty, a homemaker and an 8-year area resident, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 94 years of age.
The daughter of the late Guissepe and Carmela Pinto Gallo, she was born March 16, 1908, in Harlem.
Mrs. Gallo was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Brooklyn, where she lived for many years.
In a family statement, it was said, "A little woman who made a great impact! To our dear mother, Rose, you were truly a flower whose sweet and gentle fragrance touched the lives of all who knew you. As the earth receives you, let the heavens open the doors for your arrival. We will always love and miss you. Your family and friends."
She is survived by two sons, Ralph Gallo and his wife, Phyliss, of Smallwood and Rev. Vincent Gallo of Queens; and three grandchildren, Beau Chant Gallo of San Diego, Calif., and Noah Valle Gallo and Elan Blair Gallo, both of New Jersey.
Graveside services were held Thursday at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Kauneonga Lake.
Eva Devoe
Homemaker, 71
Eva Devoe of Woodridge, a homemaker, died Thursday, December 26, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 71 years of age.
The daughter of the late Charles and Flossie Smith, she was born May 30, 1931, in New York.
In a family statement, it was said, "She will be sadly missed by loving family and friends."
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles Devoe, at home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and William O'Neill of Woodridge and Deborah and Gary Chavis of Gales Ferry, Conn.; five grandsons, Brian and Jeffrey O'Neill of Woodridge, Christopher O'Neill of Longwood, Fla., Andrew Chavis and his wife, Stacy, of Waterford, Conn., and Benjamin Chavis of New London, Conn.; two great-grandchildren, Orion and Anastasia of New London, Conn.; two sisters, Jenny Price of Hurleyville and Dora Sands of Sidney; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne with the Rev. Jim Kaufman officiating.
Interment was made in the Hillside Cemetery in Woodbourne.

Stephanie Tisdale
Clerk, 50
Stephanie Tisdale of South Fallsburg, a clerk, died Sunday, December 22, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 50 years of age.
The daughter of the late Albert and Sandra Diggs, she was born January 26, 1952, in New York City.
She is survived by her husband, Tony Tisdale of South Fallsburg; three daughters, Shante Robertson, Star Asia Tisdale and Shanise Tisdale; and three sons, Jeray, Jerry and Robert Gadsden.
Services were held Saturday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne with the Rev. Anthony Black officiating.
Interment was made in the Woodbourne Reform Church Cemetery.
Steven T. Davis
Student, 12
Steven Todd Davis of Albany, a 6th grade student at School 19 in Albany and a former Monticello resident, died Sunday, December 22, 2002, at the Albany Medical Center. He was 12 years of age.
The son of Milton Grimsley and Crystal Davis, he was born January 12, 1990, in Harris.
He was a member of Bethlehem Temple Church in Monticello.
Steven is survived by his mother of Albany; his father of New Jersey; two sisters, Jada Heath and Shayla Davis, both of Albany; a niece, Dijaya Heath of Albany; an aunt, Lisa Cummings of Richmond, Va.; two uncles, Sean Cummings of Monticello and Gregory Cummings of Calif.; and his grandparents, Andrew Smith and Merris Cummings, both of Daffene, Ala., and Mildred Shaw. He was predeceased by his great-grandmother, Louvenia Richardson, a great-aunt, Bethene Cummings, and a cousin, Felicia Bonner.
Services were held Monday at the Bethlehem Temple Church with the Rev. Mervin Armstead officiating.
Burial was made in Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.
Rosalie Finck, 59
Owner/Oper. Sand Beach
Rosalie Finck of Highland Lake, the co-owner and operator of Sand Beach in Highland Lake and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002, at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 59 years of age.
The daughter of the late George "Buddy" and Dorothy Bartulis Sebbens, she was born August 18, 1943, in Baltimore, Md.
Mrs. Finck was a member of St. Jacobi's Lutheran Church in Shohola, Pa., and a member and past matron of River Valley Chapter No. 33, Order of the Eastern Star, in Port Jervis.
In a family statement, it was said, "Rosalie happily joins her daughter and her brothers in heaven."
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Peter H. Finck, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Peter C. and Cindy Finck of Highland Lake; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Edward Herling of Winterville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Savanna and Hunter Finck; two nephews, Edward and Buddy Herling; and a niece, Lisa Lopez. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Finck, who died August 14, 1983.
Services were held Saturday at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville with the Rev. Edward Nielsen of St. Jacobi's Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial was made in Montoza Cemetery in Eldred.

Carmen T. Cahill, 80
Ret. Abuse Counselor
Carmen T. Cahill of Saranac Lake, a retired substance abuse counselor of Veritas Villa and a former employee of the Social Security Administration in Monticello, died Monday, December 23, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Saranac Lake. She was 80 years of age.
The daughter of the late Rafael and Encarnacion Erazo Soler, she was born Feburary 11, 1922, in Puerto Rico. She was the widow of Major George Cahill II who died in 1998.
Mrs. Cahill began nursing as an LPN in 1942 in New York City. She worked for many years for the U. S. Government of West Point.
In a family statement, it was said, "The center of her life was her family. She was proud of her Puerto Rican heritage and cherished her tradition and customs. She enjoyed teaching these to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren."
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Lee Chapin of St. Albans, Vt., and Ginny and John Cuttaia of Saranac Lake; four grandchildren, Nikki and her husband, David Patraw of Saranac Lake, Christian and his wife, Danielle Cuttaia of Tupper Lake, Trista Chapin of St. Albans, Vt., and Micah and his wife, Cathy Chapin, of Spokane, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Julia Ramsey and Delia Cruz; two brothers, James Soler and George Soler; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Peter Soler and Ralph Soler.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Saturday at St. Bernard's Church.
Interment was made in Pinelawn Cemetery in Long Island.

Robert Zawasky Jr.
Fireman, 28
Robert Zawasky Jr. of Otisville, a lifelong area resident, died Friday, December 27, 2002, at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, in Middletown. He was 28 years of age.
The son of Robert Zawasky Sr. and the late Frances M. Dunn Zawasky, he was born June 12, 1974, in Middletown.
He was a member of the Otisville Fire Company where he served as First Lieutenant, was the company secretary, and chairman of the fund raising committee.
Mr. Zawasky is survived by his wife, Kristy Bishop Zawasky, at home; his father of Otisville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kim Marie and Andy Dimonte of Milton and Frances and John Dullaghan of Middletown; his father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Donna Bishop of Cuddebackville; a sister- and brother-in-law, Tara and Dan Reiley of Wurtsboro; a nephew, Jonathan Reiley and two nieces, Alexandra Reiley and Katie Marie Dullaghan.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Webb Horton Memorial Presbyterian Church in Middletown with the Rev. Kenneth Wonderland officiating.
Following cremation, burial of the cremains will be made in the family plot in Holy Name Cemetery in Otisville.

Gwendolyn Decker
Homemaker, 81
Gwendolyn Marguerite Decker, a 13-year resident of Waynesboro, Tenn., a homemaker and former Middletown resident, died Thursday, December 26, 2002, at the Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tenn. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late Charles F. and Mabel Katherine Osborne Schoonover, she was born October 20, 1921, in Ramapo. She was the widow of William Harvey Myers Sr. and Linden Morgan Decker Sr.
Mrs. Decker was a member of Webb Horton Presbyterian Church and a member of the Pentecostal Church in Waynesboro. Mrs. Decker also enjoyed arranging flowers.
She is survived by three daughters, Mabel Katherine Wright of Waynesboro, Tenn., Harlene Myers Milligan of Nashville, Tenn., and Linda M. Butler of Maysville, N.C.; a son, William Harvey Myers Jr. of Bloomingburg; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at the Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro with Jimmy Pearcy and Marty Potts officiatng.
Interment was made in Memorial Gardens.
Ruth T. Davis
Homemaker, 89
Ruth T. Davis, a 5-year resident of Cassville, a homemaker and former 55-year resident of Howells, died Thursday, December 26, 2002, at St. Luke's Home in New Hartford. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late Ralph and Lillian Canfield Tegeler, she was born May 23, 1913, in Milanville, Pa. She was the widow of Russell Davis who died June 4, 1996.
Mrs. Davis attended Howell Congregational Church and St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Middletown.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Barton R. and Jayne Davis of Schuyler, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria D. and Herbert Smith of Middletown and Glenda D. and Richard Foster of Cassville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Merritt and Irene Tegeler of Wasilla, Alaska, and Carl and Eleanor Tegeler of Pounding Mill, Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Donald Evans of Seeleyville, Pa.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Specialist 4th Class Stanley R. Davis who was killed in Vietnam in 1968, and two brothers, Lester and Allen Tegeler.
Services were held Monday at the Cornelius, Dodd and Connell Funeral Home in Middletown.
Interment was made in the Hillside Cemetery in Damascus, Pa.

Walter F. Weigand, 79
Walter F. Weigand of Briscoe died Monday, December 30, 2002, at his home. He was 79 years of age.

Annette C. Thomas, a 20-year resident of Monticello, died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, in Middletown, after a long illness. She was 60 years of age.
The daughter of the late Samuel and Louise Mitchell Broadnax, she was born January 5, 1942, in Chicago, Ill.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the House of Prayer of Monticello in Newburgh.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother."
She is survived by her husband, Fred Thomas, at home; four sons, Jerome Thomas of Riverside, Calif., Jeffrey Thomas and his wife, Cassandra, of Kingston, Richard Thomas of Middletown and Fred Brandon Thomas of Monticello; a step-daughter, Stacey Gandy of Dobbs Ferry; a brother, Milton Broadnax of Georgia; a sister, Lucille McLee of Greenburgh; three grandchildren, Brian Lee Thomas, Yasmine Thomas and Brandon Xavier Thomas; an aunt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Samuel and Louis Broadnax, and three sisters, Gloria, Carmella and Carlota Broadnax.
Friends may call at the Little Grove Holiness Church, Highland Ave., Woodridge from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday with Bishop Thomas Ward officiating.
Interment will be made in Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
