A Look Back

By Jeanne Sager

March 19, 2002:
Livingston Manor

Overall Record: 15-6
League Record: 6-2 OCIAA Division V
Team Leaders: Bridget Ellison led the Lady Wildcats throughout their season. The senior girl averaged 12.9 points per game, grabbing an average of 10.5 rebounds in each contest and posting an average of 3.2 assists.
Sophomore Jennifer Taggart added an average of 10.5 points per game and dominated under the net with 8.8 rebounds each game. Senior Nicole Argent also averaged 9.8 points to keep the Lady Wildcats going.
Season higlight: “We had a couple of highlights,” said Livingston Manor Coach Andy Taggart. Beating state-ranked Margaretsville in early January was a high point of the season for the girls, as was their sweep of the Eldred Tipoff Tournament in December.
Season lowlight: “There really wasn’t a lowlight,” Taggart said. “We won the games we were supposed to win, but I would have liked to have done better is some of the games we lost.”
Other comments: After coaching boys varsity basketball for years, Taggart said he was proud of what the girls team accomplished.
“I really enjoyed the experience of coaching the girls team,” he said. “I really thought they gave it everything they had.”
The girls worked just as hard as any boys team he coached, Taggart added.
“I wouldn’t have traded my girls for anything.”
