PINE BUSH — May 14, 2002 – Tri-Valley’s track team recorded several strong performances Saturday at the Pine Bush Invitational.
Tracy Taylor won the girls’ pole vault competition with a vault of 7 ft. 6 inches.
The Lady Bears overtook the competition in the 800 and 1,600 meter relays. The team of Jen Gorman, Candace Carroll, Jamie Kenney and Carolyn Barkley finished first with a time of 1:55.7 in the 800 race. Gorman, Carroll, Melynda O’Neill and Alyssa Skidmore were first in the freshman/sophomore 1,600 with a time of 4:33.7.
Placing second at the invitational for the Lady Bears were Jill Knox in the long jump (13-0); the shuttle hurdle team of Gorman, Kenney and Barkley (55.6); distance medley runners Tara Taylor, Kristina Mootz, Tracy Taylor and O’Neill (13:49.3); and the 400 relay team of Gorman, Carroll, Danielle Ruhren and Kenney (55.8).
Also second was the 3,200 relay team, made up of O’Neill, Mootz, Tara Taylor and Tracy Taylor (10:40.1).
Finishing third in the freshman/sophomore 800 relay with a time of 2:01.2 were Ruhren, Nikki Dean, Jill Knox and Skidmore.
The team of Kristina Mootz, Barkley, Kenney and Ruhren placed second in the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:31.0. Dean, Tracy Taylor, Tara Taylor and Samantha Vernooy also had a fourth place finish in the 1,600 relay. They ran the race in a time of 5:06.9.
Dean also took fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 12 ft.-11 1/2 inches.
In the boys’ competition, Adam Wilson took second place in the pole vault with a mark of 11 ft.- 6 inches.
Finishing third were Adrien Hobbs, Todd Goldstein, Seth Hodge and Wilson in the distance medley. They completed the event in a time of 11:51.4.
The Bears also had two fourth place finishes. Hodge, Wilson, Hobbs and Chris Kenney were fourth in the 3,200 relay (9:01.9) and Xavier Illing, Hodge, Goldstein and Wilson placed in the 1,600 relay (3:42.3).
Note: Lady Bear sophomore Heather Iatauro placed third in the 3,200 meter run at last Friday’s Loucks Games in White Plains.
She ran a lifetime best 10:51.02 in the event.
