How Eldred Did

ELDRED – June 7, 2002:

Overall Record: 0-14

Division Record: 0-8 OCIAA Division V

Top Players: Junior John Martin led the Yellowjackets with a .384 batting average. He hit .428 in Division V contests.
Martin, who pitched and played the outfield, had 8 RBIs on the season.
Junior shortstop/catcher Devin Weyant batted .333 in Division V games this past season. In all games, however, his average jumped up to .365.
He led the Yellowjackets with 14 runs scored.

Season Highlight: “We were very competitive the last eight to 10 games of the season,” Coach Frank Kean said. “We were right in the ballgame.”

Other: Kean noted that the 2002 Yellowjackets were a very young team. The team consisted of one senior, five juniors and a host of sophomores, freshmen and eighth-graders.
“We progressed as the year went on,” Kean said.

Awards/Accolades: Team awards will be presented at the school’s upcoming athletic banquet.
