LOCH SHELDRAKE October 25, 2002 Visiting Orange County Community College swept Sullivan County Community College in a Mid-Hudson Conference womens volleyball match Wednesday night at the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.
OCCC took the first game by a narrow 30-27 margin before posting 30-19 and 30-19 wins in the next two games.
OCCC improved to 16-2 on the season, while SCCC fell to 4-12.
Theyre a good team, SCCC Coach Bryan Bury said of the Lady Colts. They are near the top of the conference.
Bury, in his second year coaching the SCCC volleyball team, noted the strong effort of his players as well.
Jocelyn Hernandez, a 2002 Fallsburg Central School graduate and member of last autumns Lady Comet team that reached the Section IX Class D finals, had 12 points, 5 digs and 3 kills for the Lady Generals.
Jarisel Santiago, who serves as SCCCs co-captain with Jocelyn Hernandez, had 5 points, 6 digs and 3 service aces.Nancy Patricio added 10 points, 4 digs and 2 aces for SCCC, while Erika Hernandez had 8 assists and 3 digs.
Bury noted that five of the six SCCC players are freshmen and should be back next season.
We have a good core of players here, he said. Hopefully, we can add a couple of role players for next season.
Note: SCCC wraps up its volleyball season at noon tomorrow at the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse. The Lady Generals are slated to host Queensborough Community College and Nassau Community College.
