LIBERTY November 15, 2002 On Tuesday, November 5, the Town of Liberty Planning Board approved plans for construction of a 16-lane bowling center off old Route 17 near the hamlet of Ferndale.
The actual location is next door to the Global Trucks & Equipment business and is a little over a mile from Quickway Exit 101.
Tom Russell appeared before the planning board to present revised plans which include the construction of a building to house a 16-lane bowling center.
Following the meeting, Russell and his business partner, Carol Morrison who are operating under the name TomCat Enterprises, LLC, at 433 Harris Road, Ferndale said their plans call for constructing an attached building to the former Most Sign building to house the bowling lanes.
The existing building will be remodeled into an amusement center and a full restaurant. Actual renovations are presently being completed on this building.
The new building to house the bowling establishment will be 150 by 100, which is some 15,000 square feet. Present plans call for attempting to get the foundation in and the building enclosed before winter begins.
Russell and Morrison said they plan to have the new bowling center in operation before the 2003 summer season gets underway.
Russell indicated that his initial plans call for synthetic bowling lanes and that he has already been in contact with firms who have bowling lanes for sale and with companies that would install the lanes.
The bowling lanes, amusement center and restaurant will be located on some four to five acres of land with ample area for parking.
