LOCH SHELDRAKE The Orange County Community College (OCCC) Lady Colts started running early Tuesday night.
The Lady Colts grabbed a 17-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game versus the Sullivan County Community College (SCCC) Lady Generals.
Unfortunately for the Lady Generals and their fans, that was as close as the score would get as OCCC (2-3, 1-0) went on to record a 76-31 victory in the Region XV contest.
A three-point basket by SCCCs Rachelle Irwin from the top of the key cut the Lady Colt lead to 30-14 with 3:12 remaining in the first half.
But OCCC responded to with a 11-0 run to take a 41-14 advantage into the locker room.
We played defense first, OCCC Coach Steve Casa said. It was good to be able to get a win after two weekend losses.
Leading the way for the Lady Colts was Lauren Cash, who scored a game-high 27 points. Teresa Busweiler added 15 points for OCCC.
We just got outhustled all night, SCCC Coach Kyle Walter said. I just dont know why. We looked good in practice. It just seemed like Orange [Community College] got to every loose ball.
Lakeisha Brown scored 11 points for the Lady Generals, while Irwin added eight.
SCCC is 1-3, 0-1 Region XV on the young season.
The next Lady Generals home game is scheduled for Saturday, December 21 versus Gateway Community College at Paul Gerry Fieldhouse. Tip-off is slated for noon.
