MONTICELLO January 17, 2003 Late yesterday afternoon, the Sullivan County Legislature, during its Executive Committee meeting, discussed the hiring of a new firm to lobby for the county regarding its gambling interests.
Girvin and Ferlazzo, P.C., of Albany, was considered to work for the county for no more than six months for a fee not to exceed $5,000 a month.
Because the majority of the legislators had not met with the lobbying group, it was decided to have the firm make a presentation to the Legislature at a special meeting on Tuesday, time yet to be determined. It is expected to be voted on next Thursday.
Bolton-St. Johns, another lobbying firm, was fired last year by the county after their work was deemed unsatisfactory and after a new chair took over the Legislature.
