MONTICELLO October 3, 2003 Just think of the county as a tasty treat.
During yesterday mornings Sullivan County Legislatures Planning and Community Development Committee meeting, it was announced that Ben and Jerrys the ice cream company would be naming a flavor after Sullivan County.
The announcement was made jointly by Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce President Jacquie Leventoff and Partnership for Economic Development President Michael Sullivan.
While the flavor has not been named yet, it will be revealed on November 5 at a luncheon in New York City designed to show companies in the city and nationally that Sullivan County would be a good place to move their business.
The flavor will not be sold nationally but will be available locally a week later.
Legislators liked the idea. They asked if they could suggest some ideas, but that was politely refused.
The naming is being done to make up for the abruptly cancelled One World One Heart concert in August, said officials.
