MONTICELLO November 7, 2003 Its official: the Concord has added casino gaming to its planned resort development project.
That announcement was made Wednesday night at the Town of Thompson Board meeting.
Representatives of the Concord were on hand to set up a work session with the town and planning board to go over the plans. That meeting is now set for Tuesday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Thompson Town Hall.
The main parts of the project are the hotel, convention center and, now, the casino. Also in the works are 3,000 residential units, 600,000 feet of destination and other retail space, and 500 spa/lodge rooms.
Michael Kaplan from Concord Associates admitted that they have been talking to the Oneidas and other Indian tribes so as to include the casino.
Also, the town board informed Kaplan that they were refused a grant from the Cappelli Foundation for their summer camp. Kaplan said that was a mistake and would get them the $60,000.
