Marilyn M. Busing
Registered Nurse, 66

Marilyn Murphy Busing of Loch Sheldrake, a registered nurse at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris and a former Jeffersonville resident, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at her home. She was 66 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Ann Mrozinski Murphy, she was born June 29, 1936, in Staten Island.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Paul Ramundo of Latham, Bobbi and Charles Cumella of Seaside Park, N.J., and Patty and Terry Mill of Monroe; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Rhonda Busing of Jeffersonville; four grandchildren, Jaimie Babarczy, Lindsay Cumella and Cassy and Justin Busing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville with Pastor Lorraine Ackerman officiating.
Burial will be made in the Kenoza Lake Cemetery in Kenoza Lake.

Virginia McAdams
Homemaker, 77

Virginia M. McAdams of Roscoe, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, February 17, 2003, at her home. She was 77 years of age.
The daughter of the late Ryle and Florence Ellsworth Keesler, she was born March 23, 1925, in Hancock.
She is survived by her husband, Grant F. McAdams, at home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Beverly and Dennis Watson of Downsville, Bonnie McAdams and her companion, Richard Stuhmer of Youngsville, and Velma and Craig Early of Downsville; two sons, Grant McAdams and his companion, Patsy Bingay, of Roscoe, and Benson Brown of Narrowsburg; three brothers, Glenn, George and Martin Keesler, all of East Branch; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Leland and Gleason Keesler, and a sister, Genavie McAdams.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe with Lucille Freyer officiating.
Burial will be made in the Tennanah Lake Cemetery in the spring.

Grace B. Ortiz
Ret. Dir. of Comm., 69

Grace B. Ortiz of Wurtsboro, a retired director of communications for the New York State Hospital in Middletown, died Sunday, February 16, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 69 years of age.
The daughter of the late Bennie and Bernadette Giordano Lovaglio, she was born January 3, 1934, in Manhattan. She was the widow of Ramon E. Ortiz.
Mrs. Ortiz was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Wurtsboro and the Ave Maria Guild of the church; the Mamakating New Democratic Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Wurtsboro Fire Department; a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary to American Legion Post #1266; and a former supervisor for the Mamakating Wednesday Night Basketball League. She was also a former Cub Scout Den Mother, a past president of the CSEA Region Three Local 415, a member of the Region Three Women's Committee and was named the 1985 Employee of the Year for the New York State Hospital in Middletown.
She is survived by five sons, Benny A. Ortiz, Ramon E. Ortiz, Nicholas A. Ortiz, Marc A. Ortiz and Jose Ramon Ortiz; two brothers, Joseph Lovaglio and Salvatore Lovaglio; two sisters, Josephine Schiavone and Carmela Knight; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Draggotto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Sullivan St., Wurtsboro with the Rev. Peter Madori officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.

Brian A. Sabinsky
Electrician, 25

Brian Andrew Sabinsky of Loch Sheldrake, an electrician for Electro Electric and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003. He was 25 years of age.
The son of Bruce and Marge Sabinsky, he was born August 19, 1977, in Middletown.
Mr. Sabinsky was a member of the Loch Sheldrake Fire Department and the White Tail Hunting Lodge of Claryville. A 1995 graduate of Fallsburg High School, he also graduated from Sullivan County BOCES in 1995 and SUNY Alfred Technical School in 1998.
He is survived by his parents of Loch Sheldrake; two sisters, Megan Guy and her husband, Jeremy, of Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and Carolyn Sabinsky of Phoenix, Ariz.; his girlfriend, Allison Decker of Loch Sheldrake; his paternal grandmother, Helen Sabinsky of Loch Sheldrake, his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Margaret Jarosz of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a nephew, Trevor Guy; two uncles, James Sabinsky and John Jarosz; four cousins, Taylor, Ryan, Michael and Andrew; and many friends whom he considered his family.
Friends may call at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main St., Woodbourne, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Firematic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Joseph Sarvady, 90
Ret. Meat Cutter Frm.

Joseph Sarvady of Roscoe, a retired meat cutter foreman with Sioux Pork Company in Hoboken, N.J., and a longtime area resident, died Monday, February 17, 2003, at his home. He was 90 years of age.
The son of the late Stefan and Katherine Uhelnye Sarvady, he was born August 18, 1912, in Mt. Vernon.
Mr. Sarvady is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Melicharek Sarvady, at home; a daughter, Vera Brkal of Roscoe; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Wojdat and her husband, Rey, of Binghamton, and Veronica Brkal of Central Valley; a great-grandson, Brandon Wojdat; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the United Church of Roscoe, Church St., Roscoe, with Lucille Freyer officiating.
Burial will be made in Bon Air Cemetery in Roscoe, in the spring.

Albert Leventoff
Ret. Businessman, 79

Albert Leventoff of Lake Worth, Fla., a former 30-year resident of Rock Hill and the retired owner of Gildick Auto Wreckers in Bridgeville, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at the J.F.K. Hospital in Lake Worth, Fla. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late Benjamin and Rose Leventoff, he was born July 8, 1923, in Brooklyn.
He was a member of the Sullivan County Pilot's Association and a former member of the Rock Hill Ambulance Corps and the Monticello Rotary Club.
In a family statement, it was said, "Al was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His love of flying was only surpassed by his love for his family."
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Doris Leventoff, at home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Leventoff of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Robert and Jacquie Leventoff of South Fallsburg, and Jeffrey and Sheri Leventoff of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren, Jenna, Steven, Carly, Brittany and Rachel.
Cremation was private.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday in Del Ray, Fla.

Margaret Schillinger
Ret. Teacher, 93

Margaret D. "Peggy" Schillinger of White Sulphur Springs, a lifelong area resident and a retired teacher in the Liberty School District, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003, in White Sulphur Springs. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late James and Margaret Cox Deppa, she was born October 15, 1909, in Hurd Settlement in the Town of Bethel. She was the widow of Richard Soule and Reginald Schillinger.
Mrs. Schillinger was a member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women of the church, the Sullivan County Retired Teachers Association and the White Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens.
In a family statement, it was said, "Gram was a loving mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as 'Grandma dear' and will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her."
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Sue Green and her husband, Jerald, of White Sulphur Springs, and Sally Ann Buck of Livingston Manor; seven grandchildren, Scott, Troy and Todd Green, Lauri Munday, Sherrie Sessions, Kenneth Simpson and James Buck; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, William, James and Chester Deppa.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating.

Philip E. O'Dowd
Installation Mgr., 29

Philip E. O'Dowd of Cornwall, an installation manager for Semper Fidelis Security Concepts in Monroe and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, February 17, 2003, at Cornwall Hospital in Cornwall. He was 29 years of age.
The son of Michael and Michele Axt O'Dowd, he was born June 14, 1973, in Suffern.
He is survived by his wife, Denice A. Fienga O'Dowd, of Cornwall; a son, Joseph Michael O'Dowd, at home; his father of Hilton Head, S.C.; his mother of Monroe; two cousins, Susan and John Cayea; and several aunts, including Joyce O'Dowd of Forestburgh, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe, with the Rev. Carl D. Johnson officiating.
Cremation will be made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Rose Daubek
Homemaker, 95

Rose Daubek of Livingston Manor, a homemaker and 15-year resident, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at the Achieve Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Liberty. She was 95 years of age.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Wyko Daubek, she was born September 8, 1907, in West Hurley.
She is survived by three nieces, Dorothy Moutoux of Livingston Manor, Myrtle Smith of Liberty and Alice Daubek of Swan Lake; and two nephews, Bill Daubek of Willowemoc and Jim Daubek of Masonville.
Graveside services will be held at the Bon Air Cemetery in Roscoe in the spring.

Jeffrey A. Boyles, 22

Jeffrey A. Boyles of Ferndale, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, February 16, 2003, at his home. He was 22 years of age.
The son of Milford and Cheryl Saberg Boyles Sr., he was born March 26, 1980, in Harris.
In a family statement, it was said, "Jeffrey was a loving son, grandson, brother and nephew. He was a person that made you always smile. He will be sadly missed."
He is survived by his parents of Ferndale; a sister, Danielle Boyles of Ferndale; five brothers, Milford Boyles Jr., Dennis Boyles and Michael Boyles, all of Ferndale, Robert Boyles of Loch Sheldrake and Dustin Boyles of Massachusetts; his grandmother, Barbara Saberg of Highland Falls and Edna Boyles of Swan Lake; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Robert Saberg and Milford Boyles.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St., Liberty, with the Rev. Paul Case officiating.
Burial will be made in the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty.

Elijha Hernandez, 4

Elijha Hernandez of South Fallsburg died Monday, February 17, 2003. He was four years of age.
The son of Elliot Hernandez and Deatra Wallace, he was born September 14, 1998, in Harris.
He is survived by his parents; a sister, Deijha of South Fallsburg; two brothers, Christian and Noel of Monticello; his grandmothers, Lois Bannerman of South Fallsburg and Maraium Santiago of Kiamesha; four aunts, Denise Fore and her husband, Robbie, of South Fallsburg, Natasha McKencie of North Carolina, Christina James of South Fallsburg and Mateline Hernandez of New York City; four uncles, Julius Wallace of Hurleyville, Jason Wallace of South Fallsburg, Angel Hernandez of Florida and Renando Torres of Monticello; and a great-aunt, Maryann Wallace of South Fallsburg.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the South Fallsburg Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Anthony Black officiating.

William Noteboom, 84
Ret. Farmer/Trucker

William Noteboom of Spencer, a retired dairy farmer and tractor-trailer driver, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at his home after an extended illness. He was 84 years of age.
He was the son of the late Jacob and Adrianna Westdyke Noteboom. He was born July 18, 1918, in Paterson, N.J..
Mr. Noteboom was an active member of the local, state and national Grange and a lifelong 4-H leader and advocate. His focus in life was the love of his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Freda J. Snook Noteboom; five children and their spouses, Linda and Harold Greaves of Damascus, Pa., David and Judy Noteboom of Spencer, Albert and Clara Noteboom of Pine Bush, Fred and Joan Noteboom of Ithaca and Jennifer and Joseph Maurizzio of Moravia; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Arthur Paulson of Pompton Lakes; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Nellie Canfield, a nephew, and a grandson, Christopher Noteboom.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Presbyterian Church in Spencer with the Rev. Wayne R. Marx officiating.
Interment will be made in the Hamptonburgh Cemetery in Hamptonburgh.

Elfriede Recknagel, 97
Ret. Casino Owner/Oper.

Elfriede Zikoll Recknagel of Equinunk, Pa., a former resident of Lindenhurst, L.I., died Sunday, February 16, 2003, at the Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, Pa., after a long illness. She was 97 years of age.
The daughter of the late Heinrich Cornelius and Fredericke von der Heide Zikoll, she was born April 7, 1905, in Unna-Massen, Germany, and was the last surviving member of her family.
Mrs. Recknagel came to the United States in 1928 and obtained her citizenship in 1934. She returned to Germany in 1936 to visit her parents and was unable to return to the United States until 1948, after being caught up in the events leading up to and the duration of World War II, which started in 1939. She and her husband, Robert, owned and operated Recknagel's Dock Casino in Lindenhurst, L.I. She later came to live with her niece, Herta, in Equinunk, Pa.
She is survived by three nieces, Herta Zikoll Lepp, with whom she resided, Gerda Zikoll Cornell and Dolores Mannale; and nine grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Jurgen, Barbara, Rainer, Kenneth, Corrine, Thomas, Michael, Matthew and Rachel, living in Germany, Long Island and California. She was predeceased by two nieces, Else Zikoll Dutz and Ruth Zikoll Hofman.
Friends may call at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale, Pa., from noon until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kathy Grecco, pastor of the Equinunk United Methodist Church, officiating.
Cremation will be made at the Maple Hill at Salem Crematory in Archbald, Pa. The cremains will be buried in the family plot in Germany.

Ralph M. Price
Ret. Farmer, 74

Ralph M. Price of Damascus, Pa., the owner/operator of a dairy farm in Damascus for many years before retiring, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 11, 2003, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 74 years of age.
The son of the late Marvin and Sarah Skinner Price, he was born February 17, 1928, in Damascus, Pa. He was the widower of Barbara Price.
Mr. Price was a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Amy Laffey of White Lake. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Clarence Price.
Services were held at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home in Honesdale on Saturday with the Rev. George Gallandorm of the Damascus United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment was made in the Hillside Cemetery in Damascus, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Damascus Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Damascus, Pa. 18415.
