Cornelius Dolan Jr.
Student Advisor, 54

Cornelius Edward "Neil" Dolan Jr. of Equinunk, Pa., a student advisor at The Family School in Hancock and a former Fort Lee, N.J., resident, died Saturday, March 1, 2003 in the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa., following an illness. He was 54 years of age.
The son of Cornelius E. Dolan Sr. and the late Margaret M. Scullion Dolan, he was born February 12, 1949, in Fort Lee, N.J.
A graduate of Fort Lee High School and Lackawanna Junior College, he graduated from Bloomsburg University in 1994 with a degree in Journalism.
Mr. Dolan attended church in Rileyville and Equinunk and was a Friend of Bill W's. He played guitar, gave lessons and once played bass in a rock band. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed photography.
In a family statement, it was said, "Neil enjoyed life and especially would share his experience, strength and hope to anyone needing help. He will be sadly missed by family and friends but will always 'Pass it on.'"
He is survived by his father of Rileyville, Pa; two brothers, David Joseph Dolan of San Diego, Calif., and Richard John Dolan of Edgewater, N.J.; two sisters, Roberta Marie Revetta of Spring Valley, Calif., and Margaret "Peggy" Anne Aono of Long Beach, Calif.; two nephews, Andrew Aono and Mark Revetta; a niece, Christine Revetta; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Peter Damian Dolan, who died in 1976. His mother passed away December 13, 2002.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale, Pa., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Terrace St., Honesdale, Pa.
Interment will be made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Rileyville, Pa., in the spring.

Eleanor Morris
Homemaker, 93

Eleanor Morris, a former resident of Mongaup Valley and longtime area resident, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of the late Stephen and Hilma Lawson Kolb, she was born April 11, 1909, in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Morris was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Kauneonga Lake.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Private cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Community United Methodist Church, Horseshoe Lake Road, Kauneonga Lake, with the Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Stanley Joseph
Lewandowski Jr.
Construction Worker, 60

Stanley Joseph Lewandowski Jr. of Swan Lake, a longtime area resident and a construction worker for Bill Couermash & Sons in Darian, Conn., died Friday, February 21, 2003, at his home. He was 60 years of age.
The son of Stanley and Cecilia Pipa Lewandowski, he was born August 29, 1942, in Stamford, Conn.
Mr. Lewandowski was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1960 to 1963.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Bill Hoegemann of Henderson, Nev.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 State Rt. 55, Kauneonga Lake.
Burial of the cremains will be made at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty with full military honors.

Olga Maiori
Homemaker, 63

Olga Maiori of Monticello, a homemaker, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 63 years of age.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Bella Wiener Maiori, she was born February 12, 1940, in Manhattan.
She is survived by a son, Frank Maiori and his fiancée, Jessica Leszczymski of Liberty; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Maiori and his fiancée, Christine Olsen of Callicoon, Anthony, Frances, Brandon and Brooke-Lynn Maiori, all of Grahamsville, and JessieLynn Leszczynski of Liberty; two great-grandchildren, Paige and Matthew Olsen of Callicoon; a brother, Harry Maiori of North Carolina; her companion, Baltazar Fuentez, at home; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Phillip Maiori.
Services will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Friday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main St., Woodbourne, with Fr. Tim Wiggins officiating.
Burial will be made in Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.

Dorothy Watson
Homemaker, 61

Dorothy H. "Judy" Watson of Walden, a lifelong area resident and a homemaker, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at the Hudson Valley Rehab and Care Center in Highland. She was 61 years of age.
The daughter of the late Charles and Anna Leechow Lake, she was born December 19, 1941, in Newburgh. She was the widow of David B. Watson.
Mrs. Watson was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Montgomery.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Pamela Stark of Highland; four brothers, Andrew Lake of Walden, Charles Lake of Newburgh, Edward Lake of Monticello, and Steve Petros of Marlboro; a sister, Anna Long of Newburgh; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday at Faith Baptist Church in Montgomery.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Ruth Cole, 81
Former Postal Clerk

Ruth Cole of Claryville, a lifetime area resident and a former Claryville Postal Clerk, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 81 years of age.
She was born March 22, 1921, in High Falls. She was the widow of Warren Harding Cole.
A graduate of Kingston High School, she was an Ulster County spelling bee champion. Mrs. Cole was a member of the Claryville Reformed Church and had served as church organist for 25 years. She was also a former member of the Claryville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a loving and caring mother. She loved animals and gardening. She will surely be missed by many close friends."
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Diane Cole of Claryville; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Stuart Decker.
Friends may call at the Claryville Reformed Church on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.
Services will be held at the church at 2 p.m. on Saturday with the Rev. John W. Wall officiating.
Burial will be made in the spring at the Claryville Cemetery in Claryville.

Paul Sheppard
Ret. Hotel Wkr., 77

Paul Sheppard of Liberty, a worker at various Sullivan County hotels over the years, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at the Stratton Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albany. He was 77 years of age.
The son of the late Thomas and Mary Blackman Sheppard, he was born October 17, 1925, in North Carolina.
Mr. Sheppard was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1943-1946.
He is survived by his wife, Della Folsom Sheppard, at home.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty with military honors.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

George E. Murns
Ret. Truck Driver, 72

George E. Murns of Monticello, a lifelong area resident and a retired self-employed truck driver, died at the Stratton Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albany on Tuesday, March 4, 2003. He was 72 years of age.
The son of Julia Kearney, he was born September 22, 1930.
Mr. Murns was a World War II veteran of the Air Force and a life member of the Bailey-Richman Post No. 9588, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Monticello. He had delivered the Times Herald-Record newspaper for two years.
In a family statement, it was said, "George was always a sweet, gentile, loving person and he will be greatly missed, especially by his beloved wife, Eva Murns."
He is survived by his wife, Eva Murns, at home; his mother; a stepdaughter, Eunice Hartling and her husband, Ted, of Livingston Manor and their daughter, Diane; a daughter, and son-in-law, Georgia "Tina" and Joe Murry and their children, Shawna Murry, Joey Murry and Jennifer Murry; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah, all of Grahamsville; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, William and Margaret Kearney of Monticello, Robert and Joan Kearney of Forestburgh, Floyd and Gail Kearney and John Kearney, and a sister, Bridget Kearney all of the State of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was made followed by private burial with full military honors at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bailey-Richman Post No. 9588, VFW, Monticello, N.Y. 12701.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.

James DeFalco, 36

James DeFalco of Highland Lake, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at his home. He was 36 years of age.
The son of Lucy Grassi DeFalco and the late Daniel DeFalco, he was born February 12, 1967, in Staten Island.
He is survived by his mother, at home; a sister, Lorraine Conway of Highland Lake; two brothers, Charles DeFalco of Cuddebackville and Daniel DeFalco Jr. of Glendale; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be made in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Eldred.

Fred Mapledoram
Ret. Sr. Chemist, 82

Fred Mapledoram of Monticello, a lifelong area resident and a retired senior flavor chemist for Nestle (formerly Synfleur Laboratories) in Monticello, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 82 years of age.
The son of the late Arthur B. and Hattie McDowell Mapledoram, he was born March 26, 1920, in Monticello. He was the widower of Mary Sarcheck Mapledoram who died March 18, 1994.
Mr. Mapledoram was a 65-year member, a past chief and president of the Monticello Fire Department. He was also a former member of BPOE Lodge #1544 in Monticello and the White Oak Hunting Club.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Sue Mapledoram of Monticello; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and James Foss of Zephyrhills, Fla.; five grandchildren, Kelly, Terry, Thad, Joey and Travis; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter Mapledoram, and a sister, Kathleen Allen.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello with the Rev. Gene Smith officiating.
Burial will be made in the Westbrookville Cemetery in the spring.
