George L. Stolte
Ret. Veterinarian, 78
George L. Stolte of Eldred, a retired veterinarian and a 15-year area resident, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at the Belle Reve Senior Living Center in Milford, Pa. He was 78 years of age.
The son of the late George W. and Emma Knodt Stolte, he was born June 28, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pa.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of the Highland Field and Stream Club and the American Veterinary Association.
Mr. Stolte is survived by his wife, Christiane Lorphelin Stolte, at home; three sons, George Joseph Stolte of Cranford, N.J., Stephen Brian Stolte of Delran, N.J., and William Robert Stolte of Long Valley, N.J.; a brother, Richard Stolte of Mt. Holly, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville with the Rev. Anthony Moore officiating.
Burial was made in the Montoza Cemetery in Eldred.

Lynda M. Teichs, 45
Psych Center Employee
Lynda M. Teichs of Middletown, an employee of the Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center in Middletown and a 25-year area resident, formerly of New Rochelle, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at her home. She was 45 years of age.
The daughter of Rudolph Teichs and the late Louise Ann Colombo Teichs, she was born October 5, 1957.
She is survived by her fiance, Randy Reichelt of Middletown; a son, Ryan D. Teichs, at home; a daughter, Moeja Teichs of Middletown; her father of Parksville; two brothers, Frank Teichs of Parksville and Nick Teichs of Millington, Pa.; a sister, Theresa Mastermarino of Mamaroneck; a grandson, Richard D. Scott of Middletown; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home in Middletown.
Burial was private.

Phyla Cecelia Price
Homemaker, 97
Phyla Cecelia Price of Monticello, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, after a long illness. She was 97 years of age.
The daughter of the late T. Jereck and Phoebe Whitlock VanKeuren, she was born August 21, 1905, in Monticello.
A lifelong member of the Monticello Methodist Church, she was baptized there and was the oldest member of the church.
Mrs. Price was a 50-year plus member of the Monticello Rebekah Lodge #499, a 50-year member of the Monticello Grange and a 25-year member of Revonah Chapter #443, Order of the Eastern Star, in Liberty. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Ruddick Trowbridge Post #73, American Legion, and a member of the Senior Citizens of Monticello.
At her mother's funeral, it was said, "It is only fitting that we remember Phyla as wanting her joy to remain in you and that your joy might be full just knowing her." Her family said, "Phyla was a beautiful person and friend to all who knew her. May her memories remain with each of us and bring us contentment."
Mrs. Price is survived by a daughter, Lillian Richards, widow of Ben Richards Jr.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Patricia and Brian Coll and Benjamin F. III and Donna Richards, all of Monticello; a brother-in-law, Bertsel "Bert" Price of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Robin Lee Richards, two brothers, Chester and Ralph VanKeuren, a sister-in-law, Marion Van Keuren, three sisters, Mildred VanKeuren, Florence Price and her husband Lester, and Olive Price and her husband, Charles.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Broadway, Monticello with the Rev. Gene Smith officiating.
Burial will be made in the family plot in the Rock Ridge Cemetery, Monticello.

Florence K. Ross
Homemaker, 65
Florence K. Ross of Liberty, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 65 years of age.
Born April 1, 1938, in Plainfield, N.J., she was the widow of George M. Ross who died August 12, 2000.
She is survived by a son, George W. Ross of Jeffersonville; three daughters, Dorothy C. Ross of Livingston Manor, Susan M. Davis of White Sulphur Springs, and Debbie M. Ross of Kenoza Lake; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe.
Private burial was held in the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe with the Rev. Gerald L. Wondra officiating.

Norma R. Spahr
Ret. NYC Teacher, 92
Norma R. Spahr of Monticello, a retired New York City Public School teacher and a resident of Monticello since 1976, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington, N.C. She was 92 years of age.
The daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Rubino, she was born September 15, 1910, in New York City. She was the widow of Gustave Spahr who died in 1984.
Mrs. Spahr was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Monticello and the United Federation of Teachers.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia M. Blenk and her husband, William, of Monticello and Wilmington, N.C., and Susan N. Spahr of Monticello; a brother, Raymond Rubino of Obernburg; a sister, Genevieve Citek of Flushing and Obernburg; five grandchildren, Kenneth and Gregory Blenk, Lynnette Albin and Brian and Timothy Tobin; five great-grandchildren, Connor, Meghan, McKenna, Emma and Carolyn; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Monticello.
Burial will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Huntington, L.I.

Raymond Barthelmes

Raymond Barthelmes of Wurtsboro and Shallotte, N.C., a lifelong area resident and a retired self-employed sewing machine technician/mechanic, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at his home. He was 70 years of age.
The son of Emma Barthelmes, he was born February 24, 1933, in Middletown. He was the widower of Carol Barthelmes.
He was a member of the Phoenix Fire Company in Middletown and an avid billiard player.
Mr. Barthelmes is survived by a son, Steven Barthelmes of Summitville; a daughter, and son-in-law, Deborah and Harold VanKleeck of Wurtsboro; seven grandchildren, Steven Jr. and Ryan Barthelmes, and Melissa, Michele, Michael, Jason and Breanne VanKleeck; and three great-grandchildren, Colby, Taylor and Cameron.
A graveside service will be held later for both Carol and Raymond Barthelmes.
Ronald Bathrick, 51

Ronald Bathrick of Westbrookville, a maintenance mechanic at Quick Roll Leaf in Middletown and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the Orange Regional Medical Center at Horton in Middletown. He was 51 years of age.
The son of the late Walter G. and Lorraine Paulson Bathrick, he was born February 15, 1952, in Peekskill.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Jennifer Bathrick of Middletown; a daughter, Bonnie Bathrick, and her fiance, Billy Finkle of Westbrookville; a sister, Kathleen Montanye of Thompson Ridge; two grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and his good friends, John and Janet Pintka of Westbrookville.
Services were held Monday evening at the DeWitt Funeral Home in Pine Bush with Pastor Robert Hewitt officiating.
Cremation was private.

Elizabeth J. "Liz" Cross of Fallsburg, a retired bus monitor supervisor for the Fallsburg School District, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 57 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Carrie Tarkett Bradford, she was born February 5, 1946, in Port Jervis.
Mrs. Cross is survived by her husband, Sonny Cross, at home; two daughters, Elizabeth Kaufman and Katrina Jaycox, and a son, Shane Cross, all of Hurleyville; a step-sister, Evelyn Decker of Rock Hill; two step-brothers, Leo DeGraw of Liberty and Jack DeGraw of Fallsburg; four grandchildren, Michael Shane Spinelli, Devon Cross, Melissa Jaycox and Shane Cross Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Main St., Hurleyville, with the Rev. Robert Pinto officiating.

Adelaide S. Hahn

Adelaide S. Hahn of Callicoon, a homemaker, a former waitress and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of the late Peter C. and Sophie Will Wahl, she was born October 15, 1916, in Callicoon.
Mrs. Hahn is survived by her husband of 66 years, Franklin N. Hahn, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Franklin P. and Carla Hahn of Callicoon; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Leila Lott, Frieda Beiling, Florence Rodriguez and Dorothy Moore.
Friends may call on Tuesday at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ignatius Smith, O.F.M., officiating.
Burial will be made in the Callicoon Center Cemetery.

Katherine Klein of White Sulphur Springs, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 80 years of age.
The daughter of the late James D. and Orlena Donnely Brown, she was born March 16, 1923, in Parksville. She was the widow of Russell Klein who died in 1998.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Chris Klein of Liberty, Barry and Cathy Klein and Gary and Sandy Klein, all of White Sulphur Springs; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Virginia and Richard Ferber of Hortonville, Shirley Calkin and Kim and Kurt Carlsen, all of White Sulphur Springs; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Kelvin Klein and Melvin "Dickie" Klein, and 10 sisters and brothers.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St., Liberty, on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. Nadelen officiating.
Burial will be made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

Martha L. Harris

Martha L. Harris of Harris, a retired administrative assistant for the New York Telephone Co. in Monticello, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 87 years of age.
The daughter of the late Frederick and Myra E. Roxbury Harris, she was born September 21, 1915, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mrs. Harris was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America in Kingston.
She is survived by a sister, Eleanor Bende of Ithaca (formerly of Monticello), a niece, Barbara Stewart and her husband, Harold, of Interlaken; and two grand-nephews, Charles Stewart of Laurel, Md., and Timothy Stewart and his wife, Suzanne, of Ithaca.
Cremation was held at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
A memorial service and burial will be held on Friday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
