Thomas E. Denny
Engineer, 67

Thomas Edward Denny of Wildomar, Calif., a former resident of Tennanah Lake near Roscoe, died Friday, August 22, 2003, of a heart attack while vacationing in Sedona, Ariz. He was 67 years of age.
Mr. Denny was born October 8, 1935.
He received a master's degree from Oregon State University in civil and electrical engineering.
Mr. Denny was the project manager for Felix Electric Construction Corp., the company that built the Marcy-South powerline in New York State. He was vice president of the Donovan Construction Company and the western regional manager for Herzog Construction in Oceanside, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Marge Denny, of Wildomar, Calif.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Denny of Eugene, Oreg., Jeffrey and Karen Denny of San Diego, Calif., and Rick and Lisa Denny of Pala, Calif.; two sisters; a brother; three grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A memorial service was held on August 27 at Our Lady of Grace Church in El Cajon, Calif.

Lulu Kahn
Ret. Secretary, 85

Lulu Kahn of Liberty, a retired secretary for American Bureau of Shipping in New York City, died Sunday, September 7, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 85 years of age.
The daughter of the late William and Louise S. Kahn, she was born July 15, 1918, in New Jersey.
Miss Kahn is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, August and Mary Kahn, and a nephew, Fred Kahn, all of Liberty.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Funeral arrangements were by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Margaret Ketterer, 24

Margaret "Peg" Jean Ketterer of Harris, formerly of Milton, died Monday, September 8, 2003, at the Center for Discovery in Harris, after a long illness. She was 24 years of age.
The daughter of Henry C. and Ardis Leyburn Ketterer, she was born February 28, 1979, in Poughkeepsie.
She is survived by her parents of Milton; her maternal grandparents, John and Agnes Leyburn of Fayetteville; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Lisa Ketterer of Albany; a sister, Kate Ketterer of Mount Kisco; a niece, Molly Ketterer; and all her friends at the Center for Discovery who were like her second family.
Services were held Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Highland with the Rev. Charles Lowe officiating.
Private interment was made at the Cedar Hill Mausoleum in Middle Hope.

Gloria Haffa
Homemaker, 63

Gloria Haffa of Warwick, a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Warwick. She was 63 years of age.
The daughter of the late Arthur and Merance Jeffries LaFlamme, she was born September 26, 1939, in New York City.
In a family statement, it was said, "Mom will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her love of shopping and her tender care of her many plants. . . and people, too!"
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dawn and William DeGraaf of Benson, Vt., Elizabeth A. Haffa of Suffern and Lisa R. and Anthony DeMarino of Bloomingburg; two sons, John M. Haffa of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Eric C. Haffa and his wife, Valerie, of Washingtonville; her mother of Jamaica, Queens; six grandchildren, Mindy Mann, Jason P. DeGraaf, Erica Haffa, Jessica DeGraaf, Samantha and Vincent DeMarino; a great-granddaughter, Renae Haffa; three sisters, Elizabeth Kondelka of Bullville, Loretta Roth of Long Island and Janet Stevenson of North Carolina; a brother, Ronald Witkowski of Jamaica, Queens; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Merance Jacarusso.
A Service of Remembrance was held Thursday at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown.
Cremation was private

Freda Budoff, 85
Ret. Businesswoman

Freda Budoff of Palisades, a 51-year Monticello resident and a co-founder of Budoff Outdoor Furniture in Monticello, died Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at the Nyack Hospital after a short illness. She was 85 years of age.
The daughter of the late Max and Jenny Batushansky, she was born July 20, 1918, in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Alex Budoff who died in 1981.
Mrs. Budoff was a member of the Landfield Avenue Synagogue, a longtime volunteer at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sullivan County Chapter of the Knights of Pythias, a member of the Monticello Senior Citizens Club, and had served in many other leadership positions on local and regional levels.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Stuart and Roslyn Budoff of Vestavia Hills, Ala., Marvin and Joanne Budoff of Athens, N.Y., and Mark and Donna Budoff of Wesley Hills; six grandchildren, Jana and her husband, John, Jon and his wife, Toni, Jessica, Alyssa, Max and Peter; three great-grandchildren, Alexi, Paul and Samuel; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Murray Blayne and Sam Batushansky.
Services were held Thursday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiating.
Burial was made in the Landfield Avenue Synagogue Cemetery in Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to any chapter of Lighthouse for the Blind.

Joseph Karinsky
Ret. Control Insp., 86

Joseph Karinsky of Monticello, a retired quality control inspector for Local Corp. in the Bronx and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at his home. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Morris and Anna Harris Karinsky, he was born October 20, 1916, in Brooklyn.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Wardell Karinsky, at home; three sons; a daughter; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son.
Graveside services and burial were held Thursday at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Fairview, N.J., with Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.

Muriel M. Kyle
Ret. Teacher, 94

Muriel M. Kyle of Monticello, a retired teacher for the Monticello Central School District, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 94 years of age.
The daughter of the late William and Lillian Crawford Murray, she was born January 1, 1909, in Monticello. She was also the granddaughter of the late Peter and Delia Murray.
Mrs. Kyle was a member of St. Peter's Church in Monticello, the Monticello Women's Club, the Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop and the Sullivan County Retired Teacher's Association.
She is survived by a daughter, Constance Kyle Keller of Monticello; two grandchildren, Kristen Keller Timmermans and her husband, Dr. Robert J. Timmermans of Pelham Manor, and Paul Brendan Keller and his wife, Noémi Ali of New York City; two great-grandsons, Kyle Robert Timmermans and Joshua Matthew Timmermans; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Murray Sr.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Peter's Church, Broadway and Liberty St., Monticello, with Father Timothy Wiggins officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.

Margaret Stacklum
Ret. Teacher, 98

Margaret Flannery Stacklum of Wurtsboro, a retired teacher, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at her home. She was 98 years of age.
The daughter of the late Daniel and Ellie Egan Flannery, she was born March 25, 1905, in Newburgh. She was the widow of Robert J. Stacklum, a retired Newburgh policeman.
Mrs. Stacklum was a lifelong resident of Newburgh, moving to Wurtsboro to be near her daughter. She taught in both St. Patrick's School and St. Mary's School in Newburgh for a period of 30 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Wurtsboro and the Mamakating Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Margaret M. Stacklum and Thomas A. Helms of Wurtsboro; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a niece, Mary Ann Gibson; three nephews, Frank, James and Arthur Gibson; and several cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Bill, and a sister, Marie.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Sullivan St., Wurtsboro.
Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.

Elvira Andree
Ret. Offc. Wkr., 85

Elvira "Vera" Andree of Ossining, a former longtime Roscoe resident and a retired office worker for General Foods in White Plains, died Thursday, September 11, 2003, at the Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ossining. She was 85 years of age.
The daughter of the late Ellis and Lydia Loflund Forsblom, she was born July 18, 1918, in Flushing. She was the widow of Anton "Andy" Andree.
She spent her youth in the Mileses area and attended the Callicoon High School. Mrs. Andree was a member of both the Jeffersonville Senior Citizens and the Delaware Valley Senior Citizens in Callicoon.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Charlie Wilson of Yorktown Heights; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Madeline Forsblom of Obernburg; a niece, Theresa Duffy of Tallahassee, Fla.; a nephew, Michael Forsblom of Hankins; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Forsblom.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Cremation was made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.

Gloria Kehrley
Ret. Cook, 79

Gloria Kehrley of Swan Lake, a lifelong area resident and a retired longtime cook at the Youngsville School, died Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Watson and Irene Edelman Abplanalp, she was born July 25, 1924, in New York City.
Mrs. Kehrley was a member of the Jeffersonville Senior Citizens, the Bethel Senior Citizens and the United Methodist Church in Kenoza Lake.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Kehrley, at home; two daughters, Cheryl Lou Campbell of Alexandria, La., and Kira Posesel of Palenville; two sons, Kirk Kehrley of Newport News, Va., and Kerry Kehrley of Glendale, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Hagerty officiating.
Burial will be made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.
