Albert F. Agrella
Ret. Supervisor, 83

Albert F. Agrella of Monticello, a retired supervisor for General Electric Co. in Bridgeport, Conn., and a longtime area resident, died Friday, October 17, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 83 years of age.
The son of the late Joseph and Minnie Florentine Agrella, he was born February 10, 1920, in Bridgeport, Conn. He was a widower.
Mr. Agrella was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the European Theatre of War.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Ed Langenfeld of Rock Hill and Jennifer and Ted Stoica of Monroe, Conn.; four grandchildren, Brian and Shane Mieczkowski and Samantha and Casandra Stoica; and three great-grandchildren, Trevor Mieczkowski and Rasa and Chaitan Koletar. He was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Koletar.
A Memorial Mass was offered Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Monticello, with the Rev. Timothy Wiggins officiating.
Interment of the cremains was made at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty with military honors.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Monticello.

Anna S. Albers
Homemaker, 95

Anna Steffens Albers of Milanville, Pa., a 32-year area resident and a former volunteer at the Grover M. Hermann Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Callicoon, died Thursday, October 9, 2003, at Wayne Woodland Manor in Waymart, Pa. She was 95 years of age.
Born April 17, 1908, in Hesslingen, a small town in northern Germany, she immigrated to the United States in 1927 and attained citizenship as soon as the law allowed.
While living in Ridgefield, N.J. she was active in the local Lutheran Church and in particular as director of its Altar Guild. Upon retirement in 1970, the Alberses moved to Milanville where they built a new home and made new friends.
Mrs. Albers was active in St. John's Lutheran Church in Honesdale, Pa., the United Methodist Women of Milanville, Pa., and the Beach Lake Methodist Church.
In a family statement, it was said, "Mrs. Albers was an avid gardener, accomplished cook, homemaker and community volunteer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother."
She is survived by her husband, Fred Albers, a resident at the Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Susan Albers and John and Judy Albers; three grandsons and their spouses, Andrew and Carmen Albers, Ben and Sarah Butzen; and Greg and Kate Palmer Albers; a granddaughter, Katie; and a great-grandson, Gabriel.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.
Interment was made in the Milanville Cemetery.

Stephen D. Seginak
Musician, 78

Stephen D. Seginak of Willowemoc, a professional musician and a 40-year area resident, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at the Horton Campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 78 years of age.
The son of the late John and Martha Seginak, he was born June 2, 1925, in Nesquehoning, Pa.
A veteran of the U. S. Army, he had been a member of the U. S. Military Academy Band at West Point.
He is survived by his wife, Irene "Renee" Bretzik Seginak, at home; two sons, Stephen T. Seginak and his wife, Sara, of Grahamsville, and Danny T. Seginak of Willowemoc; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Gerry Strabile of Jeffersonville; two brothers, The Rev. Theodore Seginak of Butler, Pa., and Emil Seginak and his wife, Leona, of Hazelton, Pa.; a sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Warren Jarboe of Maryland; four grandchildren, Brian, Jesse, Katy and Molly; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Aloysius Church, Church St., Livingston Manor, with the Rev. Theodore Seginak and the Rev. William Collins officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe.

Victoria Litt, 91

Victoria Litt, a longtime resident of Monticello, died at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 91 years of age.
The daughter of the late Isidor and Dora Rubler Schwartz, she was born March 4, 1912, in New York City. She was the widow of Jack Litt who died in 1986.
Mrs. Litt was a longtime member of the Workman Circle Branch #610 in Monticello.
She is survived by two sons, Irwin Litt of Monticello, and Harry Litt and his wife, Valeria, of Ferndale; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum officiating.
Burial was made in the Workman Circle Branch #610 Cemetery in Monticello.

James Leavenworth
Ret. Home Builder, 81

James R . Leavenworth, a lifelong resident of Eldred and a retired home builder, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 19, 2003, at the Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 81 years of age.
The son of the late James Garfield and Ella Sergeant Leavenworth, he was born April 2, 1922, in Eldred.
Throughout his working years, Jim continued his love of farming. He also worked as a sawyer with the Narrowsburg Lumber Company until starting his own business as a home builder.
A U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he served four years, during which time he met his wife in Paris, France.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gisele Leavenworth, at home; a son, David Leavenworth of Eldred; two daughters, Cynthia Bellinger of Springfield Center and Nancy Leo of Hillsborough, N.J.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Graveside services and burial were held Wednesday at the Montoza Cemetery in Eldred.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Ambulance Corps, Town of Highland, c/o Chuck Myers, Rt. 55, Eldred, N.Y. 12732.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville.

Sylvia Shore
Ret. Restaurateur, 72

Sylvia Shore of Monticello, the retired co-owner and operator with her late husband of the Chateau Restaurant in Monticello, died on Monday, October 21, 2003, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 72 years of age.
The daughter of the late Harry and Adele Levine Siegel, she was born December 2, 1930, in Liberty. She was the widow of Bernie Shore.
Mrs. Shore had also worked as an X-ray technician for the late Dr. Seymour Cohen in Monticello.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Christine Shore of Monticello; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ralph Papsidero of Virginia; a brother, Marvin Siegel of Monticello; five grandchildren, Ashley Shore, Andrew Shore, Daniel Papsidero, Nicole Papsidero and Lacie Papsidero; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Wednesday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum officiating.
Burial was made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

Alan H. Cudney
Ret. IBM, 70

Alan H. Cudney of Highland, a 1993 retiree of IBM in Poughkeepsie and a longtime area resident, died Monday, October 20, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He was 70 years of age.
The son of the late Harry L. and Catherine Kindberg Cudney, he was born March 27, 1933, in Middletown.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a past member of the Highland Lions Club, secretary/treasurer of the Board of Commissioners of the Highland Hose Company #1, and a member of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Highland.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Brault Cudney, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Edward Fernley of Oneonta; three granddaughters, Taylor, Brennah and Rebekkah; a brother and sister-in-law, Preston and Nancy Cudney of Westbrookville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Highland.
Burial will be made in the Highland Cemetery.

Shirley Sweetman
Ret. RN, 79

Shirley Elizabeth Sweetman of Sunset Beach, N.C., a retired registered nurse, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at The Brunswick Cove Nursing Home in Winnabow, N.C. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth Hand Palmer, she was born January 20, 1924, in Kenvil, N.J.
Mrs. Sweetman was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Ladies Bowling Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Mo.
She is survived by her husband, Erwin R. Sweetman, a resident at the home; two sons, Craig R. Sweetman of Matamoras, Pa., and Ronald J. Beusing of Wolf Lake; a daughter, Susan Lee Seltzer of New City; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Services will be held Saturday at the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service with the Rev. Elizabeth McCain officiating.
