LIBERTY January 28, 2003 Despite taking a four-point first quarter lead (15-11) over the home team Indians of Liberty Central School, the Eldred Yellow Jackets hoopsters couldnt maintain their pace during Thursday nights non-divisional game.
The Indians outgunned Eldred in each of the remaining periods 22-12, 15-8 and 22-12 to post a 70-47 victory.
During the first half, the members of the Liberty Pep Band, under the direction of Mike Williams, provided some spirited sounds to inspire their team to victory and keep the fans at a fever pitch.
Three Liberty players reached double figures in the contest. Matt Black and Ashton Richards each netted 14 points, while Nick Christian added 13.
Eldred was paced by Jim Nieke, who recorded 18 points on the evening.
Liberty improved to 2-8 on the season, while Eldred fell to 1-10.
