SELINSGROVE, PA January 28, 2003 Eldred Central School graduate Christine Lizzi has made good use of her playing time as a member of the Susquehanna (Pa.) University Lady Crusaders basketball team.
This past Saturday, Lizzi grabbed a game-high eight rebounds as Susquehanna defeated Widener, 69-57, in a Commonwealth Conference game.
Lizzi also scored two points for Susquehanna (10-4, 3-3 Commonwealth Conference).
Back on January 18, Lizzi, a sophomore guard, scored a career-high eight points and registered a team-high three steals in 20 minutes of action as Susquehanna defeated Albright, 60-28.
Lizzi, a member of the 2000-2001 Eldred Lady Yellowjacket team that captured the Section IX Class D girls basketball title, has earned playing time in several games this season for Susquehanna, an NCAA Division III squad.
She led the Lady Crusaders with a career-high six rebounds in a January 10 contest versus Kings College in the first round of the Patient Care/Lady Monarch Classic Womens Basketball Tournament, which was held at Kings in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Kings defeated Susquehanna, however, by a 78-52 final.
In the tourneys consolation game versus Alvernia the following night, Lizzi scored a hoop with 2:14 to play to give the Lady Crusaders a 49-48 advantage. She and her teammates then held Alvernia to just two baskets the rest of the game as Susquehanna earned a 57-52 victory.
Lizzi totaled seven points, six rebounds and five steals in 32 minutes.
