LOCH SHELDRAKE February 11, 2003 In their march to the upcoming NJCAA Division III tournament, the Sullivan County Community College Generals defeathered the Rockland Community College Hawks by 33 points, 88-55, Thursday night at Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.
Despite a slow start, SCCC (18-3, 13-0 Region XV) started to wake up and smell the roses of victory.
At the half, the Generals led 40-26, and within the first two and a half minutes of the second half, had jumped out to a 20-point lead, 51-31.
At the midpoint of the second half, they were up by a 70-40 margin and the SCCC coaching staff started emptying the bench, giving the whole team some minutes of floor time.
A quartet of Generals reached double figures: Haron Hargrave (14), Gary Jones (13), Keith Bussey (11) and Glenn Davis (10).
For Rockland, Johnnie Carter scored a game-high 17 points.
Stats from the free throw line: SCCC 12/22 (55%); RCC 9/13 (69%).
I thought we played real hard, real aggressive, SCCC Coach Chad Beeten said. Without a doubt, it was our best game of the season in terms of sharing the ball.
