Win the Game

ROSCOE — February 21, 2003 – For the Lady Blue Devils of Roscoe, it was a great homecoming game, as they defeated the Chapel Field Lady Lions 50-35 Wednesday night.
With the victory, Roscoe captured the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Division V title. The Lady Devils also earned the top seed for next week’s Section IX Class D girls’ basketball tournament.
Roscoe (15-3, 8-1 Division V) maintained a lead from the opening buzzer and took a 22-13 lead in the locker room at halftime.
Seniors Rose Miesner (16) and Cheyenne Smith led the way for the Lady Blue Devils. Miesner scored 16 points and Smith added 13. Teammate Stephanie Oblak netted four points and pulled down 14 rebounds in the contest.
Two Chapel Field players reached double figures. Stacy Kuperus recorded 16 points and Amanda Schweiger added 10 for the Lady Lions.
Roscoe made the most of its trips to the foul line, converting 19-of-26 (73%) shots. Chapel Field (14-6, 7-3 Division V) went 9-of-15 (60%) from the charity stripe.
