MONTICELLO May 20, 2003 Eldred senior Henry Bosch captured the OCIAA golf title Thursday at Kutshers Country Club in Monticello.
Bosch shot a 3-over par 74 to win the championship, the first for an Eldred golfer. Bosch shot a 38 on the first nine holes and 36 on the back nine.
I didnt three-putt all day, said Bosch when asked about the key to victory. I got off to a good start and kept it going from there.
Following the event, Bosch dedicated the victory to his mother, Sandy, who was diagnosed with cancer last month.
Its for her, Bosch said of the OCIAA title. Shes been fighting [the cancer] and shes doing better.
Doug Novogrodsky of Fallsburg finished second with a total score of 76. He shot 38 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine.
Bosch, Novogrodsky and 35 other golfers qualified for the Section IX tournament. That event began yesterday at Grossingers in Liberty and continues tomorrow at the Concord in Monticello.

Local golfers who missed the cut of 87 for the sectional tourney included: Ben Kleiner, SW, 42-49-91; Brenden Pantel, Fallsburg, 46-45-91; Todd Sonnenschein, Monticello, 46-45-91; Joe Winski, SW, 45-46-91; Jerald Isseks, Liberty, 49-43-92; Tyler Gilmour, Monticello, 45-48-93; Mike Marcus, The Family School, 46-47-93; Gary Muller, Monticello, 46-48-94; Brent Nash, Eldred, 47-48-95; Nick Vallone, Livingston Manor, 47-48-95; Ryan Sonnenschein, Monticello, 49-47-96; Jim Nieke, Eldred, 51-50-101 and Nick Klusas, Eldred, 49-57-106.
