ELDRED September 2, 2003 They may have a new coach, but the faces of the Lady Yellowjackets should be pretty famliar this year.
The team, which charged into sectionals during last years soccer season, only lost a few girls to graduation, which means new coach Jolene Porter has high hopes for her team.
The starting squad includes seniors Jenna Fredericks, Jenny Haas, Lauren Timan, Roberta Wolff, Brenda Ferry and Jené Schafer, as well as juniors Kim French and Alli Schombs.
So far, like any other team gearing up for the season, the girls have been focused on offensive and defensive drills.
They expect to play tough games against S.S. Seward and Tri-Valley, but Porter doesnt yet know exactly what to expect.
I know my girls would like to make it back to sectionals, she said.
The Lady Yellowjackets were scheduled to begin their season today with a match in the annual Tri-Valley tournament. Depending on the outcome of that contest, Eldred will either play in the tournaments consolation or championship game on Saturday in Grahamsville.
