WHITE LAKE October 19, 2004 Thyl Eggink, 26, of Bethel was killed Sunday afternoon after being shot at the McCrave residence on Hemlock Road in White Lake.
Sean McCrave, 33, of Mineola, was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
According to Sullivan County Sheriffs Detective Don Starner, the victim was shot once by a .38-caliber revolver, sometime around 2 p.m. Sunday. He would not release the location of the wound.
Eggink was pronounced dead at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris after attempts to save his life failed.
The shooting remains under investigation. Additional information such as whether there were any witnesses, the details of the relationship between the two men, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting will be focused upon, according to Starner. Further charges could arise as the case progresses.
McCrave was arraigned in Town of Bethel Justice Court on Sunday and locked up in Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a court appearance last night.
The Sullivan County District Attorneys office, which is handling the prosecution, is withholding comment until DA Stephen Lungen returns from vacation on Wednesday.
The Sullivan County Sheriffs Department is in charge of the investigation but were assisted by the New York State Police, the Town of Bethel Constables and the Sullivan County District Attorneys office.
