Meryl S. Magid
Secretary, 50
Meryl Susan Magid of New York City and White Lake, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 50 years of age.
The daughter of Milton and Marilyn Magid, she was born February 16, 1954, in Brooklyn.
A graduate of Tilden High School, she was a secretary at the Frick Museum in New York City.
In a family statement, it was said, "Meryl fondly spent each and every summer of her life at The White Lake Mansion House and later at Lakeshore Cottage, both of which her grandparents (the late Louis and Lee Levy and Fannie Magid) were proprietors.
She is survived by her parents of the state of Florida and White Lake; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Kathy Magid of Rock Tavern; a niece, Kara; a nephew, Jesse; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services and burial were held Sunday at the Beth David Cemetery in Elmont.
Bernard Stein, 90
Bernard "Bernie" Stein of Los Angeles, Calif., died Saturday, May 8, 2004. He was 90 years of age.
In a family statement, it was said, "Bernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed by all."
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica and Steven Lippen of South Fallsburg, and Barbara and Carl Rook of Thousand Oaks, Calif; four grandchildren, Jamie Lippen and Heather, Jenny and Nicholas Rook; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee; a sister, Frances Langer of the state of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Elissa Lippen.
Services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuary in Los Angeles, Calif.

Nathaniel Combs Sr.
Bus Driver, 67
Nathaniel D. Combs Sr. of Wurtsboro, a bus driver for West Point Military Academy, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 67 years of age.
The son of the late Milford and Rosalie Bryant Combs, he was born May 8, 1937, in Manhattan.
Mr. Combs was a member of Hoffman Lodge, F.&A.M., in Middletown, the Auxiliary Coast Guard in New Windsor, St. Joseph's Church in Wurtsboro and was a veteran of the U.S . Air Force.
In a family statement, it was said, "Nathaniel enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and especially his grandchildren. He had a unique personality that made everyone feel comfortable and at ease, and he was loved by everyone he knew. He was also able to take the 'ouch!' out of a painful situation. Our Dad will always be remembered for his smile, joking and most of all his laugh. Although our hearts are tender with grief, we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering."
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ruthann Combs, a son, Nathaniel Combs Jr., and two daughters and sons-in-law, Almetha and Omar Maillard and Natalie and Dawayne Thomas, all of Wurtsboro; a brother, William Davidson of the Bronx; two sisters, Barbara Tinsley of Middletown and Arneitha Holmes and her husband, Alphonsa, of Brooklyn; and five grandchildren, Amber, Armond, Aliyah, Tamera and Malcom. He was predeceased by a sister, Bernadette Combs.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wurtsboro.
Interment, with military honors, will be made in the family plot in the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
Antonio Rodriguez, 73
Antonio Rodriguez, a more than 30-year resident of South Fallsburg, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 73 years of age.
The son of the late Juan and Nicolasa Ramon Rodriguez, he was born December 15, 1930 in Puerto Rico.
He is survived by three sons, Esteban Steven Rivera and Julio Rivera, both of South Fallsburg, and Anthony Rodriguez of Woodridge; a daughter, Maria Rivera of Middletown; 11 grandchildren, William, Julio, Ashley, Manuel and Steven Rivera, Daisy Acevedo, and Toni, Nia, Anthony A. Jr., Anbelica-Marie and Melissa Rodriguez; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday at the Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville with the Rev. Wilson Rodriguez officiating.
Burial was made in the Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville.
Kelly S. Vogler
Well Driller, 36
Kelly S. Vogler of Jeffersonville, a lifelong area resident and a well driller for H.W. Goetz Well Drilling in Thompsonville, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 36 years of age.
The son of Richard and Virginia Ackerley Vogler, he was born May 8, 1968, in Liberty.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia Kiefer of Jeffersonville; his step-father, Lou Kiefer of Monticello; his father of North Branch; his step-mother, Peggy Vogler of Callicoon; three sons, Austin and Dylan Vogler of Mongaup Valley and Justin Winters of Liberty; three brothers, Martin Vogler Sr. of Youngsville, Ryan Vogler of Long Island and Louis Kiefer Jr. of Vermont; three sisters, Nadine Kiefer of California, Melissa Vogler of Albany and Christina O'Sullivan of Callicoon; two nephews, Martin Vogler Jr. of Jeffersonville and Brandon Vogler of Grahamsville; his companion, Erika Clasen of Ferndale; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held Monday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty with the Rev. Ron Kurland officiating.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

George Steigler Jr.
Ret. Carpenter, 80
George Bennett Steigler Jr. of Smallwood, a former resident of Rosedale, Queens, and retired from the Nassau and Suffolk Counties Carpenter Unions and the New York District Council of Carpenters, died Friday, May 14, 2004. He was 80 years of age.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served with the 66th Infantry 71st Division and received the American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Steigler was a member of the Sgt. Andrew Brucher Post No. 5499, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in White Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Veronica Steigler; eight children and their spouses, Nancy and John Alesi of Manorville, Martin Steigler of Smallwood, Judy and Ed Fitzpatrick of Monticello, Mary Lubniewski of Middletown, Tina and Bill Weaver of Watertown, Laural and Todd Buckman of Leominster, Mass., Patrick and Patrice Steigler of Smallwood and George III and Terilyn Steigler of Smallwood; his grandchildren, Danielle and Jim O'Connor, Dana and Craig Crabtree, Martin Joseph Steigler, Jason and Paul Tomasulo, Stephen and Elida Tomasulo, Ed and Vickie Fitzpatrick, Tim and Karen Fitzpatrick, Jake, Amanda and Jaimee Lubniewski, Billy Weaver, Sandy Kessloff, Zack and Alex Buckman, Emma Steigler, Joseph and Olivia Steigler; four great-grandchildren, Kyle Crabtree, Aidan O'Connor, Salko DiCarlo-Tomasulo and Nora Fitzpatrick.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.

Wanda Estella of Kingston, a homemaker, died suddenly on Thursday, May 13, 2004, at her home. She was 48 years of age.
The daughter Arlene Boyer Estella Sliker and the late Anthony Estella, she was born April 7, 1956, in the Bronx.
In a family statement, it was said, "Wanda was a devoted and loving mother and sister. She would always put anyone's needs before her own. She was very helpful in every way to anyone she met or made contact with. She will be deeply and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her family."
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia R. Estella of Woodbourne; her mother of Woodbourne; three sisters, Gina Estella and her husband, Brian Gotte, of Woodbourne, Linda Salzano of Forestburgh and Stephanie Lounsbury of Liberty; a brother, Greg Estella of Lithonia, Ga.; two nieces, Jennifer Salzano and Mandi Lounsbury; a nephew, River Lounsbury; several aunts and uncles, including Mike and Lorraine Dean of Claryville; and many cousins. She; was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Regina and Edward Boyer, her paternal grandparents, Faustina and Vincent Estella, a brother, Edward Estella, her step-father, Jake Sliker, and a brother-in-law, Frank Salzano Jr.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main St., Woodbourne.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert McIntosh officiating.
Interment will be made in the Grahamsville Rural cemetery.

William M. Carroll of Monticello. a retired production director for the New Yorker Magazine in New York City, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 73 years of age.
The son of the late William H. and Agnes P. Williams Carroll, he was born July 18, 1930, in Broklyn.
Mr. Carroll was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Peter's R.C. Church in Monticello.
Mr. Carroll is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary A. Carroll, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen W. and Trina Carroll of Belford, N.J.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary M. and Sheldon Bratton of Brooklyn and Eileen F. and Jon Hansen of Maybrook; a brother, Richard Carroll of Hurleyville; four sisters, Patricia Mahon of Belford, N.J., Kathryn Murphy of Hurleyville, Stephanie Becker of Hazlet, N.J., and Regina Wenzler of Port Jefferson Station; seven grandchildren, Jason, Cristin, Brian, Lyle, John, Thomas and Christopher; and several nieces and nephews.
A private Memorial Mass was offered at St. Peter's Church in Monticello.

Raymond J. Rubino
Ret. Auto Mech., 90
Raymond J. Rubino, a 58-year resident of Obernburg, a retired auto mechanic and a partner of the late Julius Freyberger with whom he operated the Freyberger and Rubino Garage in Fremont Center, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 90 years of age.
The son of the late Frank and Margaret Hyland Rubino, he was born October 14, 1913, in Flushing. He was the widower of Gertrude Fisher Rubino who died February 16, 1996.
Mr. Rubino was a communicant of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Obernburg. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S . Army.
He is survived by two sons, James and his wife, Sally Rubino, of Obernburg, and Michael Rubino and his companion, Anne Marie Speranzi of Oneonta; a sister, Genevieve Citek and her husband, Harry, of Flushing; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a great-grandson, Gabriel.
There will be no visitation.
Interment will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery in Obernburg.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, June 19, at St. Mary's R.C. Church in Obernburg with the Rev. Gus Richardson officiating.

Edwina E. Mullen of Liberty, a homemaker, died at her home on May 13, 2004. She was 60 years of age.
The daughter of Florence M. Hagaman Mullen and the late Edward F. Mullen, she was born August 11, 1943, in Callicoon.
She is survived by her mother of Liberty; a sister, Margaret ""Susie" Mullen of Liberty; an aunt, Jeanette Young of Hancock; and several cousins.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Long Eddy with the Rev. Ignatius Smith officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty.
Marion J. Griebel
Homemaker, 77
Marion J. Griebel of Pulaski, a former resident of Westtown and Callicoon and a homemaker, died Friday, May 14, 2004, at her home. She was 77 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Mary Griebel Wetzel, she was born January 27, 1927, in Jersey City, N.J. She was the widow of Arthur A. Griebel Sr. who died Juy 26, 1989.
Mrs. Griebel was a communicant of Our Lady Roman Catholic Church in Unionville.
She is survived by a son, Arthur A. Griebel Jr. of Pulaski; a daughter, Theresa Finigan; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville on Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. George's Church in Jeffersonville at noon on Wednesday with Father Ignatius Vu officiating.
Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery in Youngsville.
