Graveside Services
For Clara S. Lindsay

Graveside services and burial of Clara S. Lindsay of Roscoe, who died December 24, 2003, at the age of 103, will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe.
Arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe.

Klaus Ostermann
Ret. Const. Engr., 89

Klaus Ostermann of Ormond Beach, Fla., a former resident of Glen Spey and a retired construction engineer for H.K. Ferguson in Cleveland, Ohio, died in Cleveland, Ohio. He was 89 years of age.
The son of the late Hans and Sophie Blochwitz Ostermann, he was born July 14, 1914, in New York City.
Mr. Ostermann was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving with the Seabees.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Ophement Ostermann, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl H. and Margaret Ostermann of Philadelphia, Pa.; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and James Szirony of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Margot Peterson of Glen Spey; and two grandchildren, Michael Ostermann and Evan Szirony.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Black Forest Cemetery in Glen Spey.

Doris Verderber
Ret. Hosp. Emply., 91

Doris Verderber of Damascus, Pa., a longtime area resident and a retired employee of the Grover M. Hermann Hospital in Callicoon,, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Lawrence J. Meyer in Damascus. She was 91 years of age.
The daughter of the late Willis O. and Minnie Brockney Whitehead, she was born August 15, 1912, in Quebec, Canada. She was the widow of Joseph Verderber Sr.
Mrs. Verderber was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hankins and the Delaware Valley Senior Citizens in Callicoon.
She is survived by three children, Joan "Ellie" Sattler of Callicoon Center, and Marilyn Meyer and Joseph Verderber Jr. of Damascus, Pa.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Anna Turk; two sons, Anthony and John Verderber; a nephew, Hank Verderber; four grandsons, Eddie Huggler, Michael and Bruce Turk and Louis Verdi; a great-grandson, Jesse James Turk; and four sisters, Wheeler Baldwin, Caroline Verderber, Thelma Odell and Margaret Robinson.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor Peg Van Siclen officiating.
Burial will be made in the Callicoon Cemetery.

James Crowley
Ret. Verizon Tech., 66

James P. Crowley of Kenoza Lake, a retired senior technician for Verizon Communications in South Fallsburg, with 39 years of service, and a 49-year area resident, died Thursday, May 29, 2004, at the Castle Point Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was 66 years of age.
The son of the late Daniel and Catherine Murphy Crowley, he was born March 6, 1938, in Queens.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in 1956-1958, during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the H. Russell Kenyon Post No. 5808, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Callicoon; a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge #1545; and a member of the NYS Christmas Tree Association.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Crowley of Mesa, Ariz.; a son and daughter-in-law, James P. and Laura Crowley of Kenoza Lake; a daughter, Catherine Crowley of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Michael Crowley of the state of Florida; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Bernard Duffy of Pierre, S.D., Kathleen and Martin Walsh of Port Washington, and Beatrice and John Gallagher of Long Island; two grandchildren, James Daniel and Casey Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Crowley, and a sister, Joan Maloney.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 State Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
VFW Post 5808 will hold services at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Fosterdale Cemetery with the Rev. Kristen Andersen officiating.
