Elizabeth Fowler
Homemaker, 89

Elizabeth "Queenie" Mickens Fowler of Monticello, a longtime area resident, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at the Achieve Rehab Facility in Liberty. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late Annie and John Mickens, she was born October 18, 1914, in Sumter, S.C. She was the widow of James Spencer Fowler who died in May of 1989 after 55 years of marriage.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anna Mae J. and Freddie L. Redman of Orange County; two granddaughters, Denee J. Taylor and Bridget Jacobs, both of Orange County; a grandson, Clifton Jacobs III of Sullivan County; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; an adoptive and spiritual daughter, Arlene Jacobs Merritt of New York City; a former grandson-in-law of the state of Florida and a former granddaughter-in-law of Sullivan County; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by a son, John Fowler Jr.; sister, Josephine Canty; a son-in-law, Clifton Jacobs Jr. who died in 1982; a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello with Elder James R. Ray officiating.
Burial was made in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.

Margaret M. Pellew
Ret. Seamstress, 72

Margaret M. Pellew of Bloomingburg, a retired seamstress and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 72 years of age.
The daughter of the late Clinton and Alice Helt Culver, she was born April 30, 1932, in Port Jervis.
Mrs. Pellew is survived by her husband, Robert Pellew, at home; four children, Brenda Bernard of Bloomingburg, Barbara Rodriguez of Middletown and Sandy Reidy and Allen Pellew, both of Bloomingburg; two brothers, Ralph Culver of Corinth and Charles Culver of Middletown; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Pellew Jr. and a brother, Harry Culver.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, 72 W. Main St., Middletown.
Burial will be made in the Bloomingburg Cemetery.

Lenora M. Miller
Ret. Housekeeper, 70

Lenora M. Miller of Liberty, a lifelong area resident and a housekeeper at the former Sullivan County Home and Infirmary in Liberty, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 70 years of age.
The daughter of the late Earl A. and Margaret Earl Hunt, she was born November 9, 1933, in Fremont Center.
Mrs. Miller was a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Loch Sheldrake.
She is survived by her husband, Victor Miller, of Liberty; a brother-in-law, Paul Rosengrant of Liberty; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Erma Rosengrant.
Friends may call at the Calvary Baptist Church, Route 52, Loch Sheldrake on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Caskey officiating.
Burial will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery in Jeffersonville.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Georgeana Klimchak

Georgeana E. Klimchak, a longtime resident of Smallwood and a former resident of Glendale, Queens, died Monday, June 7, 2004.
Mrs. Klimchak was a longtime member and treasurer of the Smallwood Civic Association.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael Klimchak, at home; two sons, Michael G. and John R. Klimchak; two daughters-in-law, Linda and Julie; five grandchildren, Michael, Julia, Olivia, Madison and Kathryn Klimchak; three sisters, Ann Manley, Mary Jane Sexton and Carol Witthopf, all of Glendale, Queens; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the George Werst Funeral Home, 71-41-Cooper Ave., Glendale on Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Edwin W. Neumann
Ret. Plumber, 81

Edwin W. "Butch" Neumann of Jeffersonville, a retired plumber with Union Local #373 and the owner of Neumann's Cycle Shop in Jeffersonville, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at his home. He was 81 years of age.
The son of the late Jacob F. and Mildred Cronk Neumann, he was born January 4, 1923, in Callicoon Center.
Mr. Neumann was a member and past master (1973) of Monticello Lodge #532, Free and Accepted Masons, a member of the Plumber's Local Union #373 and a member of the Jeffersonville Bowling League. He was a former constable for the Town of Delaware and was a civil defense worker during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Burr Neumann, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Nancy Neumann of Kenoza Lake; five daughters and sons-in-law, Adrienne and Paul Schick of Middletown, Debbie and Tom Bose of Youngs-ville, Deanna and Tom LaGattuta of Swan Lake, Dawn and Brian Harrell of Smallwood and Donna and Gary Keesler of Callicoon Center; a sister, Jean Carman of Parksville; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Kenny and Floyd Neumann, and a sister, Mildred Stephenson.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
Burial will be made in the Callicoon Center Cemetery.

Rosemarie Supan
Homemaker, 60

Rosemarie Supan of Bloomingburg, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at her home. She was 60 years of age.
The daughter of Muriel Koch Hamilton and the late Leon Hamilton, she was born March 28, 1944, in Port Jervis.
Mrs. Supan was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Middletown.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Supan, at home; her mother of Middletown; a son, Frank Supan of Bloomingburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Annmarie and Daryl Watkins of Middletown; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Helen Hamilton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Mark McLaughlin and Beverly and Donald Conkling, all of Middletown; and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Alyssa, both of Middletown. She was predeceased by a sister, Laureen Stewart.
Friends may call at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown.
Burial will be made in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Edwin Klein Jr.
Bank Officer, 61

Edwin J. Klein Jr. of Williamsburg, Va., a bank officer at Safra National Bank in New York City, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, in Williamsburg. He was 61 years of age.
The son of the late Edwin J.R. and Ann Crep Klein, he was born June 29, 1942, in New York City.
Mr. Klein was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Alabama during the Vietnam era.
In a family statement, it was said, "Brett and Courtney will always remember their beloved and thoughtful uncle and times spent together at their home in Gardiner and wonderful trips to his home in Long Island. Ed, you will always remain in our hearts. Our memory of Ed will never be forgotten."
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-aw, Vincent and Jacqueline Klein of Gardiner; a nephew, Brett Klein of Boston, Mass.; a niece, Courtney Klein of Gardiner; his partner, Craig Alston of Williamsburg, Va.; an uncle and two aunts, Clarence and Theresa Klein of Jackson Heights and M. Terese Tresnak of Wurtsboro.
Friends may call at the Copeland Funeral Home, 152 South Putt Corners Rd., New Paltz, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in the Lloyd Cemetery.

Mabel F. McGar
Retired Cook, 92

Mabel F. McGar, a lifelong resident of Livingston Manor and a retired cook at the former Maimonides Hospital in Liberty, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 92 years of age.
The daughter of the late Lewis and Elizabeth Krom Slawson, she was born July 16, 1911, in Willowemoc.
Mrs. McGar was a member of Sullivan Chapter #298, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Livingston Manor United Presbyterian Church, both in Livingston Manor, and a member of Union 1199 in New York City.
She is survived by her husband, Leon McGar, at home; a son, Fred McGar of Livingston Manor; two daughters, Virginia Gartland of White Sulphur Springs and Joan Robinson of Livingston Manor; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Leon "Bub" McGar Jr. and a grandson, Robert Robinson.
Friends may call at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St., Livingston Manor on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home with the Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating.
Private burial of the cremains will be made at the Lew Beach Cemetery.
