Charles Mabey
Ret. Administrator, 88

Charles Mabey of Forestburgh, a 17-year area resident and a former village administrator for the City of Carey, Ohio, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Charles and Emma Gormley Mabey, he was born September 8, 1917, in Paterson, N.J. He was the widower of Julia Whritenour.
Mr. Mabey was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Forestburgh. He was also a member of Fr. Justin Lyons Council #550, Knights of Columbus; a member of SCARS Ham Radio Club and a life member of the Butler, N.J., Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Mabey, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Minetta Mabey of Kinnelon, N.J.; a step-soon and his wife, Herman and Jan Struble of Danbury, N.H.; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Robert Berry of Mayville, Wisc.; two step-daughters, Sylvia Sanclementi of Port Jervis and Karen Pinkel and her husband, Russell, of Youngsville; a twin sister, Anna Weaver of Wayne, N.J.; 19 grandchildren; and 26-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Martin Mabey, and a sister, Marie Sanford.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church with the Rev. Ivan Csete officiating.
Burial was made in St. Joseph's Church Cemetery in West Milford, N.J.

Lena Pastorello
Homemaker, 96

Lena Pastorello of Bloomingburg, a longtime area resident, formerly of Queens, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 96 years of age.
The daughter of the late Lawrence and Rose Merletto Ricotta, she was born September 23, 1907, in Pittston, Pa. She was the widow of Salvatore Pastorello who died January 10, 1971.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a woman that loved life and family. She had a way of making flowers come to life when everyone else either gave up or simply just couldn't get them to flourish. Grandma took small pieces of a plant and made them full plants, trees or bushes. She had the same way about her with family. She and her husband made great friends, started a wonderful family and made the love grow through their entire family. She was blessed with a full life and lots of love."
Mrs. Pastorello is survived by a son, Boris Pastorello, and two daughters, Rose Dilorio and Teresa Matrochano, all of Bloomingburg; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Milli; a granddaughter, Denise Matrochano; a daughter-in-law Carol Pastorello; and a son-in-law, Salvatore Reale.
A Funeral Mass was offered Monday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg with the Rev. Raymond Bagdonis officiating.
Burial was made in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Wurtsboro.

Maximilian Gonzalez
MHS Student, 18

Maximilian Gonzalez of Monticello, a student at Monticello High School, died suddenly in the Town of Thompson from injuries sustained in a car accident on Tuesday, June 15, 2004. He was 18 years of age.
The son of Angel and Velma Gonzalez, he was born January 9, 1986 in Edinburg, Tex.
He was a member of the White Lake Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his parents of Monticello; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Luis Gonzalez of Vera Cruz, Mexico; a brother, Gabriel Gonzalez, at home; four sisters, Angela and her husband, Jose Martinez, of Monticello, and Alexandra, Katherine and Isabella Gonzalez, all at home; and a niece, Kailey Martinez of Monticello.
Services were held Saturday at the White Lake Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Coon officiating.
Cremation was private at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Memorial contributions may be made to the White Lake Reformed Church, Route 17B, White Lake, N.Y. 12786.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Monticello.

Vincent Teri, 48

Vincent Teri of Hurleyville died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 48 years of age.
The son of the late Gasper and Mary Martino Teri, he was born February 15, 1956 in Brooklyn.
In a family statement, it was said, "He was a loving father and grandfather."
He is survived by his wife, Roseann Teri, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Georgiana Teri of Loch Sheldrake; three grandchildren, Joshua, Angelea Rose and Caramia; a large family of brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday evening at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Arturo Williams
Production Wkr., 53

Arturo Leslie Williams of Liberty, a production worker for Leisure Time Ice and Spring Water Company in Kiamesha Lake, died suddenly on Monday, June 14, 2004, in Albany. He was 53 years of age.
The son of Ruby Brissett Williams and the late Leslie Williams, he was born July 26, 1950, in Panama.
A veteran of the armed services, Mr. Williams was a member of St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby Thomas of Liberty; a son, Hussani Williams of Liberty; a brother, Juan Chandler of Buffalo; and a sister, Junita Baker of Middletown.
Services were held Saturday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty with the Rev. Ivan Csete officiating.
Burial was made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty with full military honors.

David Soto
Deli Clerk, 21

David Soto of Liberty, a deli clerk at ShopRite in Liberty, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, in Liberty as the result of an automobile accident. He was 21 years of age.
The son of William and Katherine Correa Soto, he was born December 26, 1982, in Nyack.
In a family statement, it was said, "If I had a song to sing, I'd sing it to you. If I had the world to give, I'd give it to you. All I have is all of me, that you'll have for eternity."
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Ullah Soto, at home; his parents of Loch Sheldrake; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marylin and Jose Feria of Liberty, Rebecca and Rand Stefanow of New Jersey and Ruth and Doug Rivera of Liberty; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services and burial were private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 7 M.T. Morris Rd., Liberty, N.Y. 12754.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty.

Henrietta Meadow
Ret. Teacher, 81

Henrietta "Hennie" Klein Meadow, a 60-year resident of Liberty and a former Junior High English teacher in the Liberty Central School District, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at her home after a long illness. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late Nathan and Frida Bueller Klein, she was born February 22, 1923, in the Bronx. She was the widow of Dr. Nathan Meadow, a Liberty optome-trist.
Following the loss of the family's dress manufacturing business during the depression, her family moved to Middletown and then settled in Otisville. She received a B.A. in English from East Stroudsburg State Teacher's College in Pennsylvania in 1944 where she played on the school's women's basketball team. She came to Liberty to teach and soon married Dr. Meadow and together they raised a family.
In a family statement, it was said, "Hennie loved national politics, writing, poetry, cooking and 'snoozing to the news' on public radio."
Mrs. Meadow is survived by three sons, Lee Meadow and Howard Meadow, both of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ron and his wife, Bambi Meadow of Liberty; a daughter, Nicci and her partner, Susan Shea of Randolph, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Danielle, Ashley and Ethan.
Graveside services and burial were held Sunday in Congregation Ahavath Israel Cemetery in Liberty with Rabbi Marvin Goldman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to any public radio station, Democratic candidate, orphanage or the charity of one's choice.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.

Pauline Skopp, 93
Owned Bungalow Colony

Pauline Skopp of Hallandale, Fla., the retired (1980) owner of Skopp's Bungalow Colony in South Fallsburg for over 50 years, died Friday, June 18, 2004. at her home. She was 93 years of age.
She was born in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Skopp is survived by a daughter, Natalie Levitt; a son Norman Skopp; a sister-in-law, Rhoda Steinerman; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Home in Livingston, N.J. on Sunday.

Blanche Gelinson
Ret. Shop Keeper, 88

Blanche Gelinson of Ferndale, the retired 25-year owner of the Pearl Shoppe in Pearl River and a longtime area resident, formerly of Rockland County and Whiting, N.J., died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at her home. She was 88 years of age.
The daughter of the late Max and Katie Gerber Waldman, she was born May 24, 1916, in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Harry Gelinson who died June 18, 2003.
She is survived by two sons, Ira Gelinson and his wife, Harriet, of Ferndale, and Howard "Butch" Gelinson of New City; two granddaughters, Robin Zalben of Jerusalem, Israel, and Marcy Sorbello of Cazenovia; three great-granddaughters, Hadassa, Lily and Ariella; and a brother, Donald Waldman of Delray Beach, Fla.
Services were held Monday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum officiating.
Burial was made in the Jeffersonville Synagogue Cemetery between Jeffersonville and Youngsville.

Doreen McAdoo, 23

Doreen McAdoo of Monticello, a participant at Sullivan ARC, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 23 years of age.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello, on Thursday, from noon to 2 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m., followed by burial in the Hurleyville Cemetery.

Lillian Schneider
Ret. Farmer, 97

Lillian Schneider of Narrowsburg, a retired self-employed farmer and a longtime area resident, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Wayne Delaware Manor. She was 97 years of age.
The daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Tomczak Wlotkoski, she was born September 16, 1906, in Baltimore, Md. She was the widow of Walter Schneider.
Mrs. Schneider was a member of St. Anthony of Pudua R.C. Church in Yulan and St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church in Narrowsburg.
In a family statement, it was said, "She had an open and happy heart making friends easily. Her family, friends and her extended family at Wayne Delaware Manor will greatly miss her."
She is survived by a step-daughter, Connie Nelson of Madison, Wisc.; three step-grandchildren; a niece, Dorothy Hagner of Sun City, Fla; two nephews, Walter Schneider of Fairfield, Conn., and Alfred Schneider of Elk Grove, Calif. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church in Narrowsburg, with the Rev. Thomas Jones officiating with Rev. Evan Greco, OFM, as concelebrant.
Burial will be made at a later date in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Eldred.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

John Willis
Ret. Bank Exec., 81

John "Jack" Willis, a 60-year resident of Monticello, a retired executive vice president for Key Bank in Monticello and a former bank officer for the National Union Bank, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at his home. He was 81 years of age.
Mr. Willis was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the 69th Infantry Recon Division, and was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Monticello.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia "Pat" Willis, at home; a daughter, Patricia "Pat" Willis of Burlington, Vt.; and three nephews, William, Scott and Matthew Miller. He was predeceased by a brother, Ernest.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John's Episcopal Church, 15 St. John St., Monticello with the Rev. Ninon Hutchinson officiating
Burial will be made in St. John's Cemetery in Monticello.

Francis E. Smith
Ret. Bank Officer, 76

Francis "Frank" E. Smith of Port St. Lucie, Fla., a former longtime resident of Middletown and a retired vice president and senior trust officer of Orange County Trust Company, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 18, 2004, in Middletown. He was 76 years of age.
The son of the late Ernest and Mary Leonard Smith, he was born August 13, 1927, in New York City.
Mr. Smith was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Juneau. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post #151, and the McQuoids Engine and Ladder Company No. 3, all in Middletown.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Patrick Barczak of Newtown, Conn.; two grandsons, Jeffrey and Jeremy; his former wife, Patricia Fox of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Edward Klussman of Westbrookville; a brother, Charles Smith of Corona, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Smith of Boca Raton, Fla.; two nephews, Dr. John Smith and Bryan Smith; and a niece, Brenda Seigrist of Marina Del Rey, Calif. He was predeceased by a brother, John Smith.
Friends may call at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home
Cremation will be private.

Arain Darling, 59

Arain "Tootie" Darling, a lifelong Liberty resident, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 59 years of age.
The daughter of the late Howard and Arvilla Marshal Bilyou, she was born September 16, 1944, in Liberty. She was the widow of George Darling who died in 1985.
Mrs. Darling was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.
She is survived by her companion, Barry Nestle of Liberty; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Donna Darling of Bethel; two daughters, Lorie Fisher and her companion, Michael Figuero, and Katrina Jaycox and her husband, John, all of Hurleyville; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Juanita Bilyou of Arkansas; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Libby and Guile Nestle of Navaho, Calif., Roberta Moody of Hurleyville, Margaret and Dwight McIntosh and Aretta and Jim Gabus, all of Liberty; four grandchildren, Ashli, Jonathan and Edward Fisher and Faith Armstead; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Annabelle Pelton.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 St. Main St., Liberty, on Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Kaufman officiating.
Burial will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

Donald Marsh, 51

Donald Lynn Marsh of Grahamsville, a lifelong area resident, died in Dallas, Tex., on January 2, 2004. He was 51 years of age.
The son of the late Eldred and Mary Rankins Marsh, he was born August 2, 1952, in Monticello.
Mr. Marsh is survived by a brother, Clinton Marsh of Liberty; three nieces, Danielle Hajek of Grahamsville, Rachel Jarvis of Accord and Megan Marsh of South Fallsburg; a nephew, Joseph Walker of Steamboat Springs, Colo; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty, with full military honors.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Frank S. Terwilliger
Farm Worker, 52

Frank S. Terwilliger of Cochecton, a disabled farm worker and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at his home. He was 52 years of age.
The son of the late Arthur and Martha Slater Terwilliger, he was born January 11, 1952, in Liberty.
Mr. Terwilliger was a member of the Lake Huntington Fire Department, a life member of the NRA and a life member of the Tusten Settlement Association.
He is survived by a sister, Phyllis Johnston of Callicoon, and a niece, Karry Johnston.
Cremation was made at the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, Pa.
Graveside services and burial of the cremains will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Tusten Settlement Cemetery in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Huntington Fire Department, Lake Huntington, N.Y. 12752.

George F. Brustman
Ret. Cook, 86

George F. Brustman of Jeffersonville, a lifelong area resident and a retired cook with 43 years service, first at the former Triangle Diner and the former Liberty-Loomis Hospital, both in Liberty, and the former Hamilton Avenue Hospital in Monticello, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at his home. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Francis and Mary Sator Brustman, he was born December 22, 1917, in Obernburg.
Mr. Brustman was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a field kitchen cook in the Quartermaster's Corps and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of St. George's R.C. Church and a member of Protection Hose Co. #1 of the Jeffersonville Volunteer Fire Department, both in Jeffersonville.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Yvonne Herve Brustman, at home; a son, Joël Brustman of Jeffersonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Donald Schmidt of Callicoon Center; a sister, Ida Watson of Youngsville; four brothers, William Brustman and Fred Brustman of Obernburg, Joseph Brustman of Liberty and Clarence Brustman of East Haven, Conn.; two grandsons, George Schmidt and David Stucker, both of Callicoon Center; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Barbara Coger, Catherine Whatley and Marie Jacobs.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Firematic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. George's Church in Jeffersonville, with Father Anthony Moore, OFM, Father Ignatius Vu and Father Thomas Jones, OFM, officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors.
