ROSCOE — October 5, 2004 – In Friday’s Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) girls’ soccer match between the host Lady Blue Devils of Roscoe and the Chapel Field Lady Lions, the visiting booters shut out the home team 3-0.
Chapel Field (5-3, 4-2 OCIAA) scored two goals in the first 40 minutes of play and followed up with another goal in the second half.
With the loss, Roscoe’s season record fell to 1-8 overall and 1-4 in OCIAA competition.
Bethany Chairot scored for the Lady Lions with just 12 minutes and 55 seconds left in the first half.
Chairot gave Chapel Field a 2-0 advantage only 38 seconds prior to halftime when she sent a shot past Roscoe goalkeeper Kasse Brock.
With 9:39 left in the contest, Shana St. Germain scored the Lady Lions’ third and final goal of the afternoon.
Brock made 27 saves, while Chapel Field goalie Jenna Vellenga had seven. Chapel Field enjoyed big advantages in shots on goal (38 to 12) and corner kicks (12 to 1).
“The season could be better,” said Roscoe Coach Cliff Anderson.
His take on the game?
“We weren’t too well organized in the first half, but we started to get it together in the second half,” he said. “We just couldn’t get the ball in the net.”
The Chapel Field coach was not available for comment after the match.
