DEBRUCE April 26, 2005 Students from the City of Albany, such as Gabrielle Meyerdierks (pictured above in the orange shirt) partook in planting 60 trees at the state-owned Camp Debruce in the Town of Rockland Friday. The effort was shared nationwide in order to break the world record for most trees planted within an hour. It wasn't clear if the record was broken, but most of the students relished their connection to the land. They were assisted by employees of the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), which owns and operates the camp. The DEC's Division of Public Affairs and Education bused the children down as part of their recruitment efforts for the summer camp.
