Selma G. Green
Co-Owner R. Green Auto

Selma Goodman Green of Glen Wild, a co-owner of Robert Green Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep in Bridgeville, died of complications of Alzheimer's Disease on Monday, January 10, 2005, at her home.
The daughter of the late Samuel Joseph and Pauline Ram Goodman, she was born in Newark, N.J. She was the widow of Robert Green who died in 2001 after more than 50 years of marriage and with whom Green Auto Dealerships was founded in 1968.
Graduating as salutatorian of her high school class in Irvington, N.J., she earned a nursing degree from Newark Beth Israel Hospital School of Nursing and attended Rutger's University, Seton Hall College and Union College, becoming a registered professional nurse with an Associate degree in Health Education.
She continued her love of the health field, serving as a volunteer Red Cross instructor of home nursing and child care and assuming the duties as a board member of the Plainfield, N.J. Area American Red Cross. In Sullivan County, Mrs. Green became a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the Sullivan County Public Health Nurses' Association and president of the Hudson Valley Health Systems Agency. Mrs. Green was a founder and past president of Planned Parenthood of Sullivan County. Very active in the family business, she went on to be appointed franchise holder of Robert Green Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep.
Mrs. Green was a founding member and past president of the Catskill Mountain Business and Professional Women's Association. In 1986, she was chosen as their "Woman of the Year." She was also a member of the National Association of Female Executives. Mrs. Green was the first female president of Temple Sholom in Monticello and simultaneously served as a president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. It was her belief that it was her duty as a citizen to take a leadership role in the community and not just be a member.
She is survived by three children, Barbara Elbeze and her husband, Fernand, of Fairfax, Va., Lawrence Green and his wife, Barbara, of New York City, and Robert Green and his fiancée Jacqueline Ricciani of Glen Wild; eight grandchildren, Suzanne Elbeze-Bailey, Danielle Elbeze, Martin, Harrison, Stephen, Robert, Daniel and Katherine Green; a sister, Claire Knifel Cohan; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.
Interment was made in the Temple Sholom Cemetery in Monticello.

Mildred E. Haaf
Ret. Tele Oper., 98

Mildred E. Haaf of Loch Sheldrake, a retired telephone operator for the New York Telephone Co., died Sunday, January 9, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 98 years of age.
The daughter of the late Rudolph and Marie Verduber Bessler, she was born May 9, 1906, in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Charles P. Haaf.
Mrs. Haaf was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Pat Haaf of Loch Sheldrake; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, RoseMarie, a son, John, and a granddaughter, Regina.
Services and cremation were private.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.

Eleanor M. Jensen
Ret. Legal Secy., 75

Eleanor M. Jensen of Eldred and Englewood, Fla., a retired legal secretary and homemaker and an area resident since 1990, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at her home in Florida. She was 75 years of age.
The widow of Erland A. Jensen who passed away May 13, 2002, she was born September 16, 1929, in New York City.
A graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel in White Plains with a bachelor's degree, she was a member of St. Rafeal's Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne Jensen of Townsville, Australia, and Ellen Biasi of Poughkeepsie; a son, Thomas Erland Jensen of Great Barrington, Mass.; and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Yulan with the Rev. Anthony Moore, O.F.M., officiating.
Interment of the cremains will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Eldred.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville.

Sgt. Kenneth VonRonn
Army Sergeant, 20

Sgt. Kenneth VonRonn of Walker Valley and Bloomingburg, a sergeant in the U.S. Army, Company D, 101st Cavalry in Newburgh and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, January 6, 2005, in Iraq. He was 20 years of age.
The son of Raymond and Debra Jackson VonRonn, he was born September 29, 1984, in West Palm Beach, Fla.
A 2003 graduate of Pine Bush Central High School, Sgt. VonRonn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walden.
He is survived by his wife, Kira Conklin VonRonn, at home; his father of Australia; his mother of Walker Valley; three sisters, Gina, Courtney and Samantha of Walker Valley; his grandmother, Maria VonRonn of Walker Valley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Friends may call at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Raymond Cummings officiating.
Burial, with full military honors, will be held in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

Mabel M. Parsons
Homemaker, 90

Mabel M. Parsons of North Branch, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, January 10, 2005, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Martin and Dora Swendsen Jensen, she was born November 23, 1914, in Damascus, Pa. She was the widow of Harry Parsons who died in July of 1985.
Mrs. Parsons is survived by five daughters, Barbara Whitley of North Branch, Alice Theis of Tyler Hill, Pa., Elinor Fitch of Callicoon Center, Harriett Paynter of Greeley, Pa., and Rita Davis of North Branch; two sons, Harry Parsons of Callicoon Center and Roger Parsons of Oneida, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by Margaret Hust and Myra Jane Parsons.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville with Pastor Bob Paquet officiating.
Interment will be made in the spring in the Hillside Cemetery in Damascus, Pa

Milton Feldman
Ret. Dentist, 86

Milton Feldman of South Fallsburg, a longtime area resident and a retired self-employed dentist in South Fallsburg, died Monday, January 10, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 86 years of age.
The son of the late Julius and Mary Musher Feldman, he was born October 30, 1918, in Brooklyn.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Fallsburg Lions Club and the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Synagogue.
He is survived by his wife, Gilda Berger Feldman, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Marcy and Robert Anderson of Springfield, Pa.; two sons, Andrew Feldman of Philadelphia, Pa., and Joel Feldman and his wife, Dianne, of Springfield, Pa.; a brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Mae Feldman of Riverside, Ill; four grandchildren, Nicolas, Adam, Casey and Brett; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Isaac Gottlieb officiating.
Burial was made in the South Fallsburg Hebrew Cemetery.

Maria Melara
Ret. Seamstress, 84

Maria Leticia "Maleti" Melara, a longtime resident of South Fallsburg and a retired seamstress, died Monday, January 10, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 84 years of age.
She was born January 1, 1921, in San Salvador, El Salvador, C.A. She came from El Salvador in 1939, moving to San Francisco, Calif.
In a family statement, it was said "She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, not only to her family but everyone she touched. She will be sadly missed by all."
Mrs. Melara is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Francisco and Blanca Ofelia Martinez and Leopoldo Alberto and Mirna SoLorzano; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday at St Peter's Church in Monticello.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.

Dr. Elliott Turetzky
Ret. Physician, 65

Dr. Elliott J. Turetzky of Las Vegas, Nev., a retired physician, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 30, 2004. He was 65 years of age.
The son of the late Morris Turetzky and Dr. Mildred C. Greif, he was born July 28, 1939, in Monticello.
A graduate of the Wharton School of Finance of the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, he practiced medicine in North Woodmere and later in Las Vegas.
In a family statement, it was said, "We are blessed with memories of Elliott's sense of humor, and as a loving and compassionate father who always remained devoted to his children."
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Orlie Turetzky of Bellmore; a daughter, Rachel Turetzky of Malvern; a sister, Robin McClernon and her husband, Richard Pallaria of Cochecton; his step-mother, Marjorie Turetzky of Coconut Creek, Fla.; a niece, Sarah McClernon; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello with Rabbi Andrea Meyers officiating.
Burial will be made in Temple Sholom Cemetery in Monticello.

Catherine M. Royce
4-H Leader, 81

Catherine M. Royce, a longtime resident of Jeffersonville, an 18-year seasonal resident of Spring Hill, Fla., a 4-H leader and a homemaker, died Friday, January 7, 2005, at Heritage Park Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bradenton, Fla. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late Thomas Casper and Elizabeth Magdaline Baumgardt Brown, she was born May 27, 1923 in Callicoon. She was the widow of Harold Royce.
Mrs. Royce was a member of the Kenoza Lake United Methodist Church and a member of the choir. She was a 4-H leader for many years, a 31-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Sidney and Doris Royce of Cochecton; a daughter and son-in-law, Leah Mae and Ed Waldron of Jeffersonville; two grandchildren, Steven and his wife, Melissa and daughters, Hannah and Haley of Palmetto, Fla., and Jennifer and her husband, Dan, of Roanoke, Va.
Cremation was made in Florida.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Kenoza Lake United Methodist Church.

Sylvia Ter Bush
Homemaker, 74

Sylvia Ter Bush, a resident of Grahamsville since 1964 and a homemaker, died Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at her home. She was 74 years of age.
The daughter of the late Samuel and Esther Rosenstock, she was born March 6, 1930, in Brooklyn. She was the widow of both Seymour Komorsky and Dr. Charles Rubenstein.
A member of the Tri-Valley Lions, she was an avid computer user.
In a family statement, it was said, "Sylvia was a loving, caring mother, wife and friend. She was always happy and always brought joy to other people's lives. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends."
She is survived by her husband, Donald Ter Bush, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Esta and Mike Jacob of Grahamsville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steve Komorsky of Woodridge, Glenn and Debbi Komorsky of Woodbourne, and Brian and Stacie Rubenstein of Plantation, Fla.; six step-children, Barry Ter Bush of Grahamsville, Deborah Ackerley and her husband, Rubin, of Grahamsville, Tim Ter Bush and his wife, Debra, of Liberty, Mary Lou Vernooy and her husband, John, of Woodbourne, Kenny Ter Bush and his wife, Susan, of Woodbourne, and Craig Ter Bush and his wife, Debra, of Neversink; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Maybelle Renzi officiating.
Burial will be made at a later date in the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery.

Martha C. Bryant, 86
Co-Founded Funeral Home

Martha C. Bryant of Port Jefferson, the co-founder of the Bryant Funeral Home, Inc., in Setauket, died Monday, January 20, 2005, in Palm Springs, Calif. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of the late Herbert and Fanny Pfeiffer Curtis, she was born November 8, 1918, in Bridgeport, Conn.
The Bryant family spent many happy years coming upstate to both North Branch and Shinhopple.
In a family statement, it was said, "She loved her family, loved to laugh at jokes and to be teased by her sons, and was an avid sports enthusiast. She enjoyed driving, raising Shetland sheep dogs and most importantly, Martha was adored by all of her grandchildren."
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arthur W. Bryant, at home; three sons, Arthur Jr. and his wife, Barbara Bryant, of Cathedral City, Calif., Herbert C. and his wife, Kathy Bryant, of Livingston Manor, and Frederick E. Bryant and his friend, Darlene Jyringi, of Setauket; eight grandchildren, Christine, Sarah, Melissa, Elizabeth, Herbie, Freddy, Bonnie and Adam; and two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Alexandra.
Friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 411 Old Town Rd., Setauket on Friday from 2-4 and 7-10 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at the St. James Episcopal Churchyard in St. James.

Cindy S. Horn

Cindy Susan Horn of Livingston Manor, a former clerk for Newberry's on Long Island and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 43 years of age.
The daughter of Walter A. Horn and Margherita Berger, she was born May 17, 1961, in West Islip.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Bossdorf of Roscoe; her father and step-mother, Kathy Horn, of Roscoe; her mother of Gainesville, Fla.; four brothers, Walter A. Horn III of Patterson, Philip R. Horn of Jeffersonville, Edward K. Horn of Somers and Josh K. Horn of Roscoe; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wendy and Brad Pick of Islip Terrace and Kathleen M. and William McDoal of Roscoe; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gus Richardson, O.F.M., officiating.

George R. Schriever
Mortgage Processor, 75

George R. Schriever, a longtime resident of Rochester and a mortgage processor, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at his home. He was 75 years of age.
The son of the late George and Theresa Kenworthy Schriever, he was born September 27, 1929, in Liberty.
He is survived by two sons, George Schriever of Mt. Morris and Kenneth Schriever of Rochester; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Falvo Funeral Home, 1395 N. Goodman St., Rochester, N.Y. 14609.
