Athletic Achievements

FALLSBURG — March 22, 2005 – St. Patrick’s Day was transformed into the night of the Comets when Fallsburg Central School hosted its 2004-2005 Fall/Winter Athletic Awards Assembly on Thursday evening, March 17.
The assembly was sponsored by the Comets Booster Club and the Fallsburg Central School Board of Education.
“Thank you for all your blood and sweat,” Fallsburg Athletic Director Brett Cancredi said to the scholar athletes as he kicked off the annual awards program.
Mike Kenniston, the new high school principal, said that after a long day of hitting the books, the scholar athletes went “above and beyond… you will be our future leaders.”
The award winners from the Comets’ varsity sports teams were as follows:

Fall Sports Awards
• Girls’ Tennis (presented by Coach by Janet Carey): Most Improved Players – the first doubles team of Cassie Salomon and Lisa Scheinman; Most Valuable Player – Bianca Rappaport.
• Girls’ Soccer (presented by Coach Lee Smassanow): Sportsmanship Award – Jessica Orlan; Most Improved Player – Ashley Hunter; Most Valuable Player – Abby Smassanow.
• Varsity Volleyball (presented by Coach Chris Barnes): Most Improved Player – Jessica Brown; Most Valuable Player – Rachel Feller.
• Boys’ Soccer (presented by Coach Jeremy Levner): Sportsmanship Award – Bill Miller; Most Improved Player – Dave Luczyski.

Winter Sports Awards
• Girls’ Basketball (presented by Coach Les Hyde): Sportsmanship Award – Toni Wilkerson; Most Improved Player – Jenna Hiatt; Most Valuable Player – Erin Gilmore.
• Boys’ Basketball (presented by Coach Paul Marsden): Sportsmanship Award – Harris Seletsky; Most Improved Player – Daniel Fraiser; Most Valuable Player – David Anthony.
• Cheerleading (presented by Coach Sonja Ferreira): Sportsmanship Award – Liz Ortiz; Most Improved Cheerleader – Amanda Chan; Most Valuable Cheerleader – Frances Melendez.
• Girls’ Alpine Skiing (presented by Coach Rebecca Jankowski): Sportsmanship Award – Amanda Scuderi; Most Improved Skier – Esti Ross; Most Valuable Skier – Samantha Adrians.
• Boys’ Alpine Skiing (presented by Coach Janet Carey): Sportsmanship Award – John Bernstein; Most Improved Skier – Dave Luczyski; Most Valuable Skier – Bjorn Egenes.
