Eldred Whacks
Livingston Manor

By Ted Waddell
ELDRED — April 26, 2005 – In last Thursday’s Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Division VI baseball game, the Eldred Yellowjackets stung the visiting Wildcats of Livingston Manor, 13-1.
Eldred (2-4 overall, 2-0 Division VI) scored a run in the opening frame to grab a quick lead. But Manor (0-4, 0-2 Division VI) tied it up in the third inning when Brandon Zayas scored on a hit by Josh Mendez.
The sixth was a huge inning for the Yellowjackets as they scored 12 runs. A trio of Wildcat pitchers tried to stem Eldred’s offensive outburst in the frame. Starter Marvin Bonilla was relieved Brian Fries and later in the inning Zayas took over for Fries.
Eldred pitcher Mike Prunka picked up the win. He struck out 12 on the way to victory.
J.T. Vogt paced the Yellowjackets’ offense. He went 2-for-4, scored two runs and had three RBIs.
Eldred’s George Fountain and Nick McCormick had two RBIs each.
