LIBERTY — April 26, 2005 – Don’t invite the Bears for dinner.
In Friday’s non-league baseball game between the Liberty Indians and the visiting Tri-Valley Bears, the out-of-towners blasted the Indians 18-2.
T-V improved its record to 6-2 on the young season, while Liberty dropped to 1-8.
The Bears scored five runs in the first inning, three in the third and two in the fourth, to take a 10-0 lead.
In the fifth, they added another six runs on the way to defeating the Indians.
Joe Garigliano and Matt Smith each went 3-for-3 for T-V. Garigliano knocked in two runs and Smith picked up the victory on the mound, allowing just five hits over five innings.
For Liberty, Jason Garritt went 2-for-3 and Chris Kornfield had an RBI.
Indians’ pitcher Brandon Katz was tagged with the loss.
