JEFFERSONVILLE May 20, 2005 The home team howled in Tuesday afternoons non-league baseball game between the Sullivan West Bulldogs and the visiting Eldred Yellowjackets.
After defeating Livingston Manor the previous afternoon, the Bulldogs continued their winning ways as they topped Eldred by a final score of 8-2.
In the wake of three scoreless innings, SW (12-7) sent a runner across the plate in the bottom of the fourth. The Bulldogs then added four runs at their turn at bat in the fifth to make it a 5-0 ballgame.
In the top of the sixth, Eldred scored a run to cut the SW lead to 5-1.
But SW padded its advantage in the bottom of the sixth by scoring three runs.
Eldred (4-11) closed out the games scoring with a solo run in the top of the seventh.
Anchoring the mound were Matt Berger for SW and Mike Prunka for Eldred. Berger struck out 11 batters and allowed seven hits on his way to earning the win.
Berger helped his own cause by smashing a double.
Steve Musso and Garrett Owen paced the Bulldogs offense. Musso registered two hits and an RBI, while Owen had two hits and three RBIs.
Prunka, Nick McCormick and J.T. Vogt led the Yellowjackets offensive attack. McCormick recorded two hits and an RBI, Vogt had a pair of hits and Prunka smacked a double.
