LOCH SHELDRAKE — July 22, 2005 – Dozens of girls from Sullivan County learned more about the game of basketball last week.
More than 30 girls between the ages of 7 and 17 attended Sullivan County Community College’s 2005 Summer Basketball Camp at the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.
From Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, the young players completed dribbling and passing drills, shot free throws and 3-pointers and played several 1-on-1, 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 games.
Leading the camp was Paul Clune, who is the head coach of the SCCC Lady Generals. Assisting Clune in running the camp were Gabe Abbott, Bryan Bury, Troy Nowlin and Jennifer Wright.
“We had fun this week,” Clune said. “We taught a lot of the fundamentals of the game and we wanted the kids to have a good time as well.”
Clune added that each of the camp attendees received a certificate for participating, an evaluation form listing their strong points as well as some aspects of the game they should work on and a basketball fundamentals booklet.
