ROSCOE — September 27, 2005 – Despite a quick goal by Christy Murden of The Family School, the host Lady Blue Devils of Roscoe rallied to score five goals in a row last Friday to defeat the Lady Falcons 5-1 in an Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Division VI soccer match.
Roscoe improved to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in Division VI. The Family School fell to 0-7-1 overall and 0-3 in Division VI.
In the wake of Murden’s score at 36:05 in the opening frame, Roscoe’s Kendra Harris beat the Lady Falcon goalkeeper Jessica Fairweather at 33:54. The goal, which was the first of four for Harris in the game, led to a 1-1 tie at halftime.
The second half was all Roscoe. At 36:38, Harris scored on an assist from Kourtni Guzzo; Harris scored thanks to an assist from Stacey Duffy at 25:26; the Harris-Guzzo combo hooked up again at 16:46; and at the 12:58 mark, Taylor DeVantier scored off an off assist from Nicole Failla.
Roscoe outshot The Family School by a 46-14 margin.
Fairweather recorded 30 saves, while Lady Blue Devil goalie Kasse Brock had four saves.
“I thought we moved the ball well,” Roscoe Coach Kevin Sanford said.
