LAKE HUNTINGTON — November 1, 2005 – In Saturday afternoon’s non-league football game between the home team Bulldogs of Sullivan West and the Webutuck Warriors, the Bulldogs walloped the opposition by a final score of 47-0.
SW improved to its record to 6-3, while Webutuck ended its season with a mark of 0-9.
In a lopsided contest that saw the Bulldogs take a 33-0 lead at halftime, senior running back Jimmy Erlwein carried the ball 10 times for 135 yards and a touchdown.
Fellow SW senior running back Steve Daley rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown. Brett Youmans ran for two TDs for the Bulldogs.
“We executed well and hopefully we will next week,” SW Coach Ron Bauer said. “We were able to do a lot more today than we have been doing in the past.”
When he mentioned next week, Bauer was talking about Sunday’s Section IX Class C title game at Dietz Stadium in Kingston. At 3 p.m. that afternoon, the Bulldogs will take on the two-time defending Class C champion Tri-Valley Bears. The winner will move on to the state tournament, while the losing team will see its 2005 season come to an end.
