WARWICK November 14, 2006 On Saturday, thousands of cross country runners and their coaches, family members and friends from around The Empire State traveled to the Sanfordville Elementary School.
The occasion was the 56th annual New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Cross Country state championships, hosted by Section IX and the Warwick Valley High School.
As the early morning fog burned off, runners enjoyed a downright balmy November day as the temperatures were above normal and the sun shone brightly.
Among the thousands of harriers traversing the 3.09-mile course were 15 Sullivan County athletes who represented the Eldred, Livingston Manor, Monticello, Sullivan West and Tri-Valley school districts.
The best finish among the county runners was recorded by T-V junior Courtney Roosa. She placed 14th in the girls’ Class C race with a time of 19 minutes, 29.1 seconds.
