Tip-Off Classic Hoops Tourney Scheduled

LAKE HUNTINGTON — November 28, 2006 — The Sullivan West Central School District will soon be hosting the 2006 Boys’ and Girls’ Billy Moran Tip-Off Classic basketball tournaments.
This memorial tournament has been recreated from the past Billy Moran Tournament that was sponsored annually by the Delaware Valley Central School and the Tip-Off Classic that was sponsored annually by the Jeff-Youngsville Central School.
The varsity girls’ tournament is slated for Wednesday, November 29 and Thursday, November 30. The varsity boys’ tournament is scheduled for Friday, December 8 and Saturday, December 9. All games will be held at SW’s Lake Huntington campus.
The girls’ tournament features teams from Onteora, S.S. Seward, Tri-Valley and, of course, Sullivan West.
The boys’ tournament features teams from Rondout Valley, Livingston Manor, S.S. Seward and, of course, Sullivan West.
The tournament schedules are as follows:
Girls’
First Round – Wednesday, Nov. 29:
• Game 1: (6 p.m.) Onteora (Away Team) vs. S.S. Seward (Home Team)
• Game 2: (7:30 p.m.) Tri-Valley (Away Team) vs. Sullivan West (Home Team)
Consolation/Championship Round – Thursday, Nov. 30
• Consolation Game (6 p.m.) Loser of Game 1 (Away Team) vs. Loser of Game 2 (Home Team)
• Championship (7:30 p.m.) Winner of Game 1 (Away Team) vs. Winner of Game 2 (Home Team)
Awards: Trophies will be presented to the First, Second and Third place teams. Trophies will also be awarded to a Most Valuable Player (MVP) and five first team all-stars.
The all-stars will be selected by the coaches at the conclusion of the consolation and championship games.
Boys’
First Round – Friday, Dec. 8:
• Game 1 (6 p.m.) – Rondout Valley (Away Team) vs. S.S. Seward (Home Team)
• Game 2 (7:30 p.m.) – Livingston Manor (Away Team) vs. Sullivan West (Home Team)
Consolation/Championship – Saturday, Dec. 9
• Consolation (5 p.m.) – Loser of Game 1 (Away Team) vs. Loser of Game 2 (Home Team)
• Championship (7 p.m.) – Winner of Game 1 (Away Team) vs. Winner of Game 2 (Home Team)

Admission fees for both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments are the same. The cost is $2 for adults and $1 for students.
